I got hit by a drunk driver on my way to watch the super bowl at My Moms house with her husband. He side swiped me pretty bad.

Guy kept on going. I was following him and got his license plate number. CHP is investigating. They went to his house and he was not home. His neighbors told the cops they had seen him drinking a 12 pack on his porch about an hour earlier.

I am happy to be alive. 2 inches to the right and he would have spun me out at 70 MPH.

The best part is his license plate # "TWO REEL" .... Made it pretty easy for the cops to find out who it was.

dont go chasing people after an accident. holy crap. dude, youve got so much adrenaline running through you. you could be all ****ed up and not know it. plus, you basically eliminated a lot of your upside in any potential lawsuit. yours will now be straight math from the book.

Glad that you are ok. Scrooge gives good advice. You were cruising at the speed limit right?

Glad you are ok man, that's some scary stuff!! Luckily OC is zero tolerance for DUI, so he should definitely be sentanced with the maximum penalty.

Glad youre ok.

Who drinks a 12 pack on their porch? Where you live? Sounds fishy.

What is it that people don't get about driving and drinking? And it seems to be the same people over and over. We had a woman drive her Caddy over two men exchanging insurance info at an auto accident during a snow storm. She was due in court this week from an earlier DUI charge and was on a suspended license.

Vanity plates are so tacky, at least they are easy to remember when the idiots drink and drive.

that ***** and I'm glad you're ok. I thought CA was "stepping it up" with the patrols, especially on Super Bowl Sunday. I guess they won't get everyone.

But, it's going to be hard to prove he was over the limit, he may get charged with a hit and run.

I doubt he'll get a DUI, but hopefully he gets busted for something and has valid insurance.

This is what the CHP officer said. Unless they catch him drunk they can only charge him with unsafe lane change and hit and run. I am more concerned with getting my car fixed through his insurance. I do not want to have to come out of my pocket for the deductable on my own policy and then wait while the try and recoup.

I did not chase him as other stated. I followed him until I got the plate # and then took the dispatchers advice and stopped following him. It did take every ounce of will power to stop chasing him though. I had visions of yanking him out of his truck and pounding his face in..... probably good he did not pull over.

K Hufford.... You are starting to sound like Dollar (Frank D)... He always says things sound fishy we he has nothing else to say..... LOL.

I called CHP this morning and the investigation is on hold until the responding officer returns to work on Friday......

that bites. Even though they have eyewitnesses that he was drinking. That just encourages people to flee the scene if they've been drinking. IMO.

My dad got T-Boned last night by a 66 year old woman that was out of her mind on OxyCotton. She took off but people who watched the entire thing followed her while on the phone with 911!!!

Kyle, you are too young. My husband and I sit on our deck (but it is out back) and have a few cocktails in the evening a lot. Guess we are just old.

jstar, glad you did not get hurt.

I hope they got her. The 911 operator will tell you to immediatly stop following them... At least that is what they told me.

There is no reason for someone to flee the scene unless they're under the influence, have a warrant or are here illegally which you would hope would step up the investigation. Why else would someone leave the scene of an accident.

Its absolutely insane that oxy is legal. I have a friend in jail for 7 years because he ran over a lady while addicted to that crap.

lots of "legal" drugs shouldn't be. Xanax (I had my issues with this one several years ago), oxycontin, percocet, valium, you name it. People tend to think that because it's prescribed, it's ok.

I would argue that the negative affects of drugs are actually more negative because of the legal side versus the actual usage.

In other words, more people are killed, jailed, and harmed by cocaine because of the gangs and illegal trafficking than are actually hurt by using the drug.

War on drugs needs to be ended.

Ok, now I get it. Makes me feel less old. Here in Alabama, if the home is 20+ years old, it has a porch. Even if it is 500 square foot shack, it has a front porch with a beat up lawn chair on it.

Drugs used correctly are not a danger.. My 12 year old daughter was prescribed oxy due to a posterior spinal fusion.

Yes thanks for asking. Fortunately he came out of it OK. Ofcourse some soreness and a few black & blues, but over all damn lucky.
His car on the other hand....TOTALED.

In the police report the woman told the cop "I knew I was in some sort of accident, but I didn't know when or where, so I drove home so the cops would know where to find me."

She was whacked on multiple drugs. The people that followed her told the cop she stopped at a red light, and didn't go until it was green for the 3rd time. They purposely sat behind her to see what she would do.

In no way negating the seriousness of this topic, but:

A police officer pulls over a speeding car. The officer
says,' I clocked you at 80 miles per hour, sir.'

The driver says, 'Gee, officer, I had it on cruise control
at 60; perhaps your radar gun needs calibrating. '

Not looking up from her knitting the wife says: 'Now don't
be silly, dear -- you know that this car doesn't have cruise
control.'

As the officer writes out the ticket, the driver looks
over at his wife and growls,
'Can't you please keep your mouth shut for once !! ?'

The wife smiles demurely and says, 'Well dear you should
be thankful your radar detector went off when it did or your
speed would have been higher.'

As the officer makes out the second ticket for the illegal
radar detector unit, the man glowers at his wife and says
through clenched teeth,
'Woman, can't you keep your mouth shut?'

The officer frowns and says, 'And I notice that you're not
wearing your seat belt, sir. That's an automatic $75 fine.'

The driver says, 'Yeah, well, you see, officer, I had it
on, but I took it off when you pulled me over so that I could
get my license out of my back pocket.'

The wife says, 'Now, dear, you know very well that you
didn't have your seat belt on. You never wear your seat belt
when you're driving.'

And as the police officer is writing out the third ticket,
the driver turns to his wife and barks, 'WILL YOU PLEASE SHUT
UP??'

The officer looks over at the woman and asks, 'Does your
husband always talk to you this way, Ma'am?'

(I love this part)

'Only when he's been drinking.!!'
