Would love to see 11 reporters assigned to AP to discover who truly runs them (like we don't already know).

AP Turns Heads for Devoting 11 Reporters to Palin Book 'Fact Check'
by Robert Shaffer
FOXNews.com

Reviewing books and holding public figures accountable is at the core of good journalism, but the Associated Press' treatment of Palin's book seems an unprecedented move at the wire service

Sarah Palin is no normal politician, and at the Associated Press, apparently "Going Rogue" is no normal book.

When the former Republican vice presidential candidate and former Alaska governor wrote her autobiography, the AP found a copy before its release date and assigned 11 people to fact check all 432 pages.

The AP claims Palin misstated her record with regard to travel expenses and taxpayer-funded bailouts, using statements widely reported elsewhere. But it also speculated into Palin's motives for writing "Going Rogue: An American Life," stating as fact that the book "has all the characteristics of a pre-campaign manifesto."

Palin quickly hit back on a Facebook post titled "Really? Still Making Things Up?"

"Imagine that," the post read. "11 AP reporters dedicating time and resources to tearing up the book, instead of using the time and resources to 'fact check' what's going on with Sheik Mohammed's trial, Pelosi's health care takeover costs, Hasan's associations, etc. Amazing."

The AP, an organization with over 4,000 employees and 49 Pulitzer Prizes earned for asking the hard questions, wouldn't comment on their own reporting for this story.

Reviewing books and holding public figures accountable is at the core of good journalism, but the treatment Palin's book received appears to be something new for the AP. The organization did not review for accuracy recent books by the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, then-Sen. Joe Biden, either book by Barack Obama released before he was president or autobiographies by Bill or Hillary Clinton. The AP did more traditional news stories on those books.

For someone they say has no chance of doing anything major politically(I agree), they sure give her more than average attention...I smell fear, unwarranted IMO, but still fear of what she represents in their minds...

Amazing isn't it? I'm no Palin fan, but at the same time I don't have a anything against her. It appears that she must have some of the Liberal, nutcase royalty a little worried.

They hate her because she is a PRO-LIFE good looking FEMINIST. All feminists are suppose to be PRO-CHOICE and LIBERAL.

She is a threat to their whole ideology. Conservative women (in their minds) are suppose to be stupid, barefoot and pregnant. She is attractive, REAL, and has actually accomplished things without going to the IVY LEAGUE or being born into the right family or playing the race/gender card.

If she increases the women vote to the Republicans only slightly then the Dems are in super trouble.

Surprise, Surprise, the AP did not fact check Obama's book with even 1 reporter.

Wonder why that is?

With his track record of broken campaign promises and double speak the AP did not have to. They knew like most of the rest of America he is full of sh##.

There were no facts to check.

Oh, they're worried all right. They know how the game is played. Hillary knows it best.

Palin will be a short-term candidate for nominee, with no intention of playing it through. She'll garner millions of supporters, but not nearly enough to win. She'll then turn over those rabid supporters to someone like Huckabee with a rousing breast-heaving endorsement of full support, not a half-hearted Hillary scowl. Clearly beaten and hopes dashed, every other candidate for GOP nominee will swiftly tumble in line with full support.

They won't make the same mistake twice in a row. Anyone who doesn't get with the program will become a pariah and threatened to have all skeletons exposed, a la John Edwards waving a quick goodbye with a nervous smile. Ron Paul would be connected to RuPaul. Mitt Romney would be photoshopped in a bikini at the Hitler Museum. These guys will step aside, they aren't stupid.

That nominee will then have a mountain of steam to crush Obama (there isn't a chance in hell that the Dems send up anyone but Obama). Every single conservative feather is going to guide the arrow of victory over an incumbent with mistake-filled bullseyes riddled all over him. Independents will be screaming that Rednecks are hogging the bow and not sharing.

Obie's going to find out that "change" includes him when people are unhappy. The fireside chats and other lies will come, but they won't work in this era, despite him following the FDR Cliff-notes master plan. He'll be seeking airtime everywhere and ostracized for at least 50 years by historians, with even Al Gore avoiding him as if he owes the paper-boy ("It's Barack again." -- "Aw hell, Tipper. Don't answer it. Close the blinds. I'm not here!"). That's what happens to one-termers.

Palin will keep her fine little controversial behind off the ticket and reap the benefits of a nice cabinet appointment and all the financial rewards that come with it.

Anger will overwhelm the voting booths by sheer numbers. Say whatever you want, Rednecks vote... beer-in-hand or not... and they don't mind a little cleavage as a reminder to bring the wife, sister, and/or sister-wife. They won't be staying home this time and counting their chickens like the college kids will. ACORN thugs better move off the steps, because it's going to get real ugly in 2012 and they will be greatly outnumbered in many states. The electoral map is going to turn redder than Kruschev and Palin's already got a high-heel in the door.

Wait till the CIA gets their revenge and helps expose the Dem attempt to rig it. You think they aren't licking their chops for some payback?

This one I found very funny...

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/11/18/reporters-former-aide-dispute-claim-about-palin-daughter-2/

2 reporters say Palin is lying (of course) about them cornering her little daughter for an interview. And now let's examine the article's relevant parts;

"We did not, however, interview Piper Palin, nor did we corner her on her way home from school," Conroy and Walshe told CNN in a statement.

Make a note of that comment. Let's continue;

"Contrary to Governor Palin's recollection of having seen us both at a press conference, Scott has never attended a press conference in Alaska."

Note the word "Scott". She didn't omit herself. We are supposed to believe that her partner traveled all the way to Alaska and then sat in a Starbucks or laid in bed while she was out working. Or do journalists routinely travel to NOT attend press conferences? Even so, would Palin seeing only one of them make her a malicious "liar" for assuming the partner was also around? She's playing with semantics to distract us from the truth, isn't she?

What about the actual charge of talking to the child without an adult around to protect her? (Reminder: She said they never did that) Enter Nicole Wallace, former campaign strategist for Palin;

(Wallace) said it would have been impossible for Piper to have used her by name in a discussion about the campaign reporters in question, because Wallace never spoke to Piper about them.

By name? The actual statement here is; According to Palin, Piper returned home and told her mother: "Mom, remember those reporters who came on the campaign plane with us? You know, the ones Nicolle [Wallace] said didn't like us very much? They just interviewed me on the sidewalk."

I don't see anyone claiming that little Piper knew their names, do you? I also don't see Piper saying that Wallace told her any names, do you? All she says is that Wallace had mentioned at some prior time that they didn't like the Palins. Also, how is it "impossible" for the kid to say she talked to someone? And so what? What about the actual charge... talking to the kid alone?

"I have never met Shushannah and Scott and had never seen Shushannah until I saw her on TV yesterday," Wallace said in an e-mail to CNN. "Couldn't have picked either of them out of a line up and never heard their names or had any idea who they were until after the campaign ended."

Oh, really? Never met them? Let's see who they were...

The journalists in question - Scott Conroy and Shushannah Walshe, authors of the newly-published book "Sarah from Alaska" - deny Palin's characterization. Both traveled with Palin on her campaign plane throughout her 2008 vice presidential bid...

Wouldn't a campaign strategist ever be on the plane with the candidate, or was she at Starbucks also? Do strategists routinely ignore media members surrounding the candidate? But she never met them? Never even SAW them? Must have been a very, very large plane or a blind and incompetent strategist. Still, what about the kid they never spoke to...

Conroy and Walshe tell their version of the story in their book... On happening to bump into the reporters in Juneau, they write, Piper "seemed excited to chat briefly with us about her return to Alaska." An hour later, they received an angry phone call from Palin's deputy press secretary, Sharon Leighow, accusing them of "cornering Piper at her bus stop for comment."

But... but... it never happened!!! They never talked to the kid!!! They told us so!!!

Let's just soak that all in... Two reporters, whom it appears don't even go anywhere together while working, just "happened" to bump into a little girl. They just "happened" to be at HER bus stop near HER school... BOTH of them, mind you (Looking right at you, Scott!), yet they don't attend press conferences together.

Remember the first comment? They never "interviewed" her, yet they admit they talked to her. Not an interview, just a big ole coincidence? I'm pretty sure they weren't on their way home from school, so WHY WERE THEY AT A SCHOOL BUS STOP?

Yet, once again, Palin's the liar. Surrrrre.

It was interesting to see Keith Obermann last night on MSNBC devote around 30 minutes putting her down. The only thing that does it bring more attention and support to her. Her Facebook fan group just reached over 1,000,000 strong yesterday and has already added another 16,000 fans since then.

It would be a huge political mistake to underestimate
Sarah Palin for two very important reasons...

1. Every woman wants to be her... rich, powerful, beautiful
2. Every man wants to do her... same reasons

Those who deny either are lying to themselves... the rest
of us know better. I promise you the Democrat honchos know
the truth and will continue to do everything they can to

You cant argue her track record of running Alaska...here let me...

As for running Alaska...Lets see...have huge fund that funds giving every...and I do mean every resident a yearly stipen...While the country was screwed by high oil prices...2008 they got $3269.00 per person

My cousin and his wife with their 5 kids and one more on the way made $22,883.

Here is my beef with that...The United States of America paid for that land...so the taxes received for the sale of oil should be everyones. There is a reason for her cry of "drill baby drill". She knows that as a nation we cant drill our way out of the need for foreign oil, but people dont seem to care to hear that. But the fund will like it.

As a state with less than 700k in population they dont have many of the same problems. Yet like everywhere if you really need services, there not really available even with a fund of 28-30 billion dollars.

She was just as buried with oil companies as the governor before her and the Senator Ted Stevens. You would be hard pressed to find one person in government in that state that wasnt in bed with them...that is how they get elected.

PS...everything was already there when she took office...also remember the state is 75% GOP

What do you expect an Alaskan governor to focus on, their grade A corn-farming business or solar energy for the state with the fewest amount of sunlit minutes? OF COURSE they tie completely to the oil companies! It's all they have. It beats passing out pamphlets for tourists to visit the fantastic 5-star igloos during 'Freeze Your Ass Off' season.

Palin RAISED oil company taxes to raise that investment money. That doesn't sound like she rolled her pretty little hips over in bed with oil barons.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/2008-10-12-413514155_x.htm
"Palin herself has no control over the yearly amount of the dividend check sent to residents."

Note also that it's described as an INVESTMENT ACCOUNT for the citizens and it wasn't set up by Palin, it's in their constitution as a way for citizens to reap some benefits from the state's resources instead of the government pocketing all profits. Oh gee, what a silly thing to do, turn a profit and give a dividend back to citizens when the state is rolling in dough. You do realize that Alaska has to ATTRACT a population somehow, don't you?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_Permanent_Fund
"established by Alaska in 1976, primarily by the efforts of then Governor Jay Hammond ... The Fund does not include either property taxes on oil company property nor income tax from oil corporations"

As for the US government sharing the profits of any state's resources, mined and drilled by the work of private corporations... that's clear-cut Socialism. We wouldn't mind a cut of Nevada's gambling industry, either. How are you going to inflict that rule upon one state and not on all? More importantly, WHY would you single out one state and not all... as some form of punishment just for Sarah Palin's birth, just because you don't like her?

That's weak.

You're comin around... drinkin sake already?

Comin around? I have always viewed the average voter as totally ignorant and clueless. How else can you explain voting for Bush or believing in the talking snake? Bunch of idiots.

what is soo special about this chick running for president of usa if she got blown away with katie couric's interview. Was katie fair? Was katie too bully? remember katie is a woman and all woman's lib.

why did oprah allow painlin back on her show? was it that oprah need to repair her repshyt damaged control?

like I said earlier, painlin need to shut her trap and stay in alaska. That's right she can't cuz back in her college days, she hopped from one campus to another campus.

THIS COMING TO YOU LIVE FROM THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF OBAMA.

Why are liberal fanatics so engrossed with what Palin has to say? concentrate on your loser-in-chief

Then get off the Palin bash train. She has nothing to do with our economy. Got a great track record running Alaska, though. Care to argue that?

Your off base with your analysys. She wasn't an ally of Oil Companies or Ted Stevens. In fact, she wasn't an ally with much of the Republican Party machinery in Alaska.

If you don't like her, that's fine. You may not like her because of the way she wears her hair, or the way she talks, or her policy positions, or her lack of experience. But as I've witnessed for the past year, instead of basing your dislike for Palin on what other's have falsely stated, base it upon something tangible.

There is really nothing clever about Palin's popularity. She just happens to be the only Conservative out there. Sure her life story helps (with some), but if there were another true Conservative candidate, I would suspect Palin would be sharing the stage.

The Day I Met Sarah Palin…and the Liberal Media
November 20, 2009

Where on earth do I begin? This all started as me, a young 17 year old American going to see a woman I admire and turned into this crazy event hah I’ll start at the very beginning.

My dad and I arrived at the Barnes and Noble at 11 pmTuesday evening. There were 2 tents in front of us; we were probably number 15 or so in line. It was a chilly evening but I enjoyed some good conversation from several Palin fans. We talked about Obama, Palin and just some other stuff. We sat outside in the cold, bundled up until 5:30 am. At that time they ushered us inside where we had to sit outside the B&N entrance until 7am. We received our bracelets at 7am and were told if we’d like to be guaranteed to see Palin we should remain in line all day. So I did. I was not about to lose a chance at seeing Sarah Palin after sitting in line out in the freezing cold for hours. So I sat, and sat… I read some of her book and then the media circus began. I spotted Norah O’Donnell and Andrea Mitchell right off the bat and couldn’t believe they were there.. I mean I thought they hated Sarah Palin. I thought Sarah Palin had no impact, she was a nobody yet they send their 2 big guns to cover her book tour..but I digress.

There were 3 young girls-college aged who arrived first and they got tons and tons of interviews. After the media covered them they started walking the rope line. One by one I saw them interview people left and right of me. The day went on and then we were given the warning- 1 hour til she arrives! We were told the only thing we could bring in was our book. If we had coats they had to remain on. So I figured it was going to get hot in there with all us people crammed so I took it off…who knew that move would land me all the media buzz it did. I knew they went after people who were all decked out but I did not think my t-shirt would get much attention. I was first approached by a New York Times writer who wrote what my shirt said and then asked me a couple questions. She asked me what it was I liked about Sarah Palin. I said, “As a young female she is someone I can look up to, before her the only prominent female in politics I had known about was Hilary Clinton, whom I respect don’t get me wrong, I respect her but when you don’t agree with someone it’s hard to really look up to them. I like how Sarah Palin will speak her mind, regardless of what the media will say about it.” After that I just stood in line eagerly waiting for Sarah Palin to arrive. I then see Norah O’Donnell approach a man all decked out in Palin garb. She asked him a few questions (camera not rolling) then said she’d like to have a woman in the shot. She asked a woman who refused then pointed at me and said “Hey talk to her” So I walked over. I knew I was walking into hot water with MSNBC- thought I was prepared….Seconds later I met her… One of the many faces of liberal media bias. She asked me my name and then before going on air asked me why I liked Sarah Palin, I repeated what I told the NYT reporter. Norah didn’t seem to like that much. So what did she do? I mean she couldn’t ask me that question on television, heaven forbid her not have a biting response.. I noticed her look down at my shirt then, she turned around blackberry in hand spoke to a man, thumbs tapping the blackberry (I don’t remember if she called or not, she may have. But she was on her blackberry), then jotted down a quick note. Little did I know that note would be used against me. She told us she’d be walking up to us. You know like she just stumbled upon us. The shot began… I kept telling myself answer her question well, don’t freak out. Well, I thought she’d ask me the same question. She asked the man beside me (who by the way is NOT my dad) the same question she had before we went on air. Myself on the other hand, not the same story. She had me read my shirt and then proceeded to ask me “Did you know Sarah Palin supported the bailout” to be 100% honest I was like, are you kidding me? She is trying to use my shirt against me. I was so shocked by the craftiness she had that I was truly stumped. I asked her where she got her fact and she read her little note. Then she asked me what I liked about Sarah, and I talked about the Constitution. Immediately after the interview I said to my dad “Oh man, I have so many great responses now about my shirt” I could have said, well my shirt doesn’t say anything about Sarah Palin supporting the bailout or “Hey Norah, have you read the book? She talks about how during her debate prep she was handed a list of note cards that had questions and ‘non-answers’” Of course they told Sarah Palin to support everything McCain did. Call me crazy but it would have looked pretty bad had Sarah Palin been against something John McCain was against while they were running together. Norah also claims I told her I voted (on her twitter). That is not true. She never asked my age or if I voted. I’m 17 I couldn’t have voted…and I don’t live in an ACORN district so I didn’t have a chance to even register illegally. Making that statement by Norah completely false.

Well, the interview was over and it was time for me to meet Sarah Palin. We were taken upstairs and stood for about a half hour. And all of a sudden, the music began playing. “Red High Heels” by Kellie Pickler started blasting; I thought it was a perfect song. Then off in the distance I saw Sarah Palin make her way to the table. Before I knew it there she was. My dad went ahead of me and Sarah welcomed him by saying “Well, hey there sir how are you doing” and being the goofball he is said to her “I’ve haven’t been this excited since I visited Graceland.” Sarah responded “Oh thank you so much!” He also told her that the girl behind him was his daughter and that I had just been interviewed by MSNBC and would’ve made her proud. Sarah smiled and said “aww well good we need that!” I was up, it all happened so fast I didn’t have much time to take it in. But to my surprise she added my name when she signed my book. I’m going to back track for a second, when we arrived we were handed a pink slip with rules for the event and one read “There will be NO personalizing of books.” That is why I was so shocked. She looked at me and said “Sweetie, what is your name?” I told her and watched her sign my name in the book and then hers. I told her “Thank you so much.” and she said “No, thank YOU so much!” She was so kind and personal. She looked me directly in the eyes and looked so happy to see everyone. And just like that it was over. I had met the woman who had inspired me to become interested in politics and is one of the huge factors in my interest for learning about our countries great history. Meeting Sarah has been the highlight of my senior year so far, that is for sure!

So today. I thought about my interview and thought there was a slight chance someone; somewhere would pick up on it. Never did I think I would be featured on Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly, Hot Air, Associated Content, Media Matters, Newsbusters and the Fox Nation. I found out about Glenn Beck because during school I have my twitter updates turned on on my phone and I check them in between classes. After 3rd hour I looked at my phone and click on a tweet and it said that Glenn was airing my interview. After school, I went to work; I left my twitter updates on just to see what else might happen. I got tweets about Newsbusters and MediaMatters while at work. When I got home I began looking online and kept receiving tweets and the more they came the more surprised I became. Then as I’m sitting at the computer I get a TweetDeck notification alerting me of an @ mention, I clicked it and I read “HOLY CRAP YOU’RE ON O’REILLY” luckily I had it recording because I knew Sarah Palin would be on, but really I was stunned O’Reilly showed it. I’ve been sitting at the computer now for a couple of hours now reading articles and comments and I even got to see video from Glenn Beck’s radio show of them discussing it, which made me laugh hysterically. It was not the first time I’d been mistaken for being much younger than I actually am (still get offered a kids menu). It was nice to see/hear someone like Glenn Beck defending me. I will clear up some of the stuff he said about me. I am 17, the man next to me was not my father and I cannot stand Miley Cyrus. He was right, however, in 2 areas. I do attend a private school (parochial-Christian school) and my dad is a Bible thumping, gun toting man. I wish I could have thought quicker on my feet for that interview and threw it right back into O’Donnell’s face but I was caught off guard I had no time to think clearly, you can also add in nerves of being on live television for the first time. That certainly did not help.

In one day I met a role model, and met the liberal media and their crafty schemes. I fell prey to liberal bias, but I’d like to think I did an okay job. We always want do-overs, and I can assure you if I had a do-over with Miss O’Donnell you’d see a much more prepared (well rested) and ready to go at it side of this 17 year old. But unlike Norah I didnt have my note cards with me. I was forced to think on the spot and answer a gotcha question. Her goal was clear, make this teenager look like an uneducated Palin supporting buffoon. To liberals, and the 5 people who watch MSNBC she succeeded. To conservatives, she was the only buffoon during that interview.

The only people panicking are the other GOP wannabe POTUS candidate. They are all shutout from the "MSM" that they all need to get onto, and stay on, the national stage.

Go Palin! Show those fools who has the real "balls" in the Republican party.

BTW, has anyone heard from Michael Stelle lately? Maybe he decided to take that jump off the roof after all.

I will take them, your supposed Genius (who did not even get a 3.25GPA at Occidental College) and his friends are screwing up more than anyone ever has.

The answer to fix America is simple, cut federal spending by 50 to 75% or more, cut taxes and get the hell out of the way.

Maybe your boys and girls will implement your recommendation the next time they are in charge ... just as they did the last time they were in charge. Good luck with that.
