There is no joy in Mudville!
The Hawks started strong with a 70+ yard TD pass on their first series. The defense then held for a 3 and out and the Hawks came back with a field goal... 10-0... strong start.
Then... disaster... QB Ricky Stanzi was tackled in the end zone on their next series and suffered a lower leg injury that will likely keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season.
His replacement is an untested red shirt Freshman who had thrown exactly 3 passes this season in mop up duty.
It did not go well...
Iowa lost 17-10
Oh well... we're still 9-1 on the season... not bad.

| Well Husker will have Nebraska top five after beating 5-4 Oklahoma. And I agree. They are top five. In the Big 12. |

Kirk Ferentz said that if the BCS computers had actually seen Iowa play they'd have said "what the heck?" lol
Still... 9-1 is a pretty good record for this Iowa team. In the original husker thread on this subject I said I'd consider it a successful season if Iowa finished in the upper division of the Big 10.
My expectations have been exceeded. I'm a happy Hawkeye!

9-1 is a good record for any team, not just Iowa. |

| Keep in mind that we are now on our 4th string running back (true freshman), 2nd string quarterback (redshirt freshman), and we have a preseason all-american lineman, and preseason all Big 10 safety out. We're still 9-1 and have a great shot at the Rose Bowl. We only graduate TWO starters this year too. I'll take a 1 or 2 loss season this year and the haters can go kick rocks. But next year, we will be an elite team. |

Given the current state of our injury list I doubt luck will be enough to defeat the Buckeyes in The Shoe.
If the Hawks are to win this game it will be on sheer determination and guts.

| That was a good game to watch.. by the way Iowa started, I thought they were going to come out and dominate.. Losing Stnzi ruined their chances... but I have to give props to the NU running back.. #20, Scott Concannon! he had a great game, in his second straight start.. Good job little bro! |
