We had about 520,000 per week laid off, 4.33 weeks per month, equals a little over 2,250,000 people put out of work. The official numbers show that 190,000 jobs were lost last month. Even though I went to public schools, by mathematical deduction, about 2,000,000 jobs were created.
This is supported by those receiving long term unemployment stats . |

You need to get off the reservation more often and learn the new math! |

There is a reason the numbers are different...I would explain it to you but it wouldnt really matter cause I doubt you care why. |

Something I found odd was a link posted earlier in the week that if someone gets a pay raise, that the Obama Administration considers that a "Job Created" in official numbers.
Talk about fuzzy math..... |

The way the government figures the employment numbers are they same as they were under bush...so I doubt your link is correct. |

I am glad that some responded. Please explain the math , if possible.
In the last 12 months, aprox. 26 million Americans have been laid off. Yet , per the Govt., only 4 million jobs have been lost.
Anyone care to explain the difference? |

Here is a thought...laid off...doesnt mean job permanently gone.
Take an auto worker for example...Laid off...several weeks later re-hired...laid off...re-hired...
There are several industries that do this on a regular basis... |

I know for one, they stop counting the unemployed when they run out of benefits. I guess if they're not giving you a check, you're really not unemployed. I just heard earlier that the REAL unemployment rate is almost 20% when you count EVERYONE that has lost their job, not just those getting a check. |

"Jobs lost" are considered lost when they are no longer available ie. companies shut down etc
Being laid off is a different animal and as Rude mentioned, unemployment only counts as unemployment when you colect "unemployment benefits" and "actively" seek re-employment...
If, for example, you decide to go back to school to get a new, better or even your own job back, you're no longer classified as unemployed... It's all big joke and I am totally sure we have over 20% unemployment rate and the ones that ARE employed are in debt beyond recovery... welcome to the new world! |

Because they know you can only fool the public so much and now they are onto you.
20%+ unemployed and out of rest of the 80% atleast 60% arent doing well either |

If 20% is a accurate figure, we are close to Great Depression numbers.

But during depression people didn't have credit card debt... and 40-50% tax rate (local and federal off course)

Its not going to get any better if we keep printing money like we have been. All this bail out money and nothing to show for. Besides empty headlines of how things are getting better |

In other words we are much worse off now than during the great depression, or will be soon when reality finally kicks in?
