Didn't Bush say that the Iraqis would come out and celebrate at our feet, greet us with open arms and love us.

Couple of interesting remarks in there.

- It's interesting that Israel is a "sovereign state" that can do whatever it wants to protect its interests, but North Korea is apparently not.

- Interesting that they misread how bad the economy was AFTER predicting with great confidence that it had not bottomed out well before the inauguration and stimulus signing, and that Bush had left us devastated for years to come, which could only be fixed by the progressive mind of one Barack Obama, who instantly implemented the exact same Bush 'stimulus' idea with a LOT more spending. Would anyone back in November have dreamed that we could actually save money by keeping Bush or the GOP around??? Actually... Yes, we did.

- Interesting that we were constantly told how fast this money had to be spent and the bill signed and approved, yet it was on an "18-month" plan. You don't exactly hire a turtle to run a 100-meter dash, do you? Someone's been stalling on the spending, because they KNOW its the wrong course and want to save the stopgap cork for as long as possible to give a false impression of mini-recovery near re-election time.

- The emphasis on broadband access concerns me greatly. That type of infrastructure will be easily wiped out in any attack on this country and the shift to digital TV has left many vulnerable to that scenario, as there will be no TV access for emergencies if the wires go down. The solution is in wireless satellite technology for all, yet we are going to focus on the old wires and cables with our last bit of emergency money. Progressive?

- High speed rail? Wonderful... another waste of technology that is unnecessary and can leave people at the mercy of being mugged, stranded or killed during an attack. This is what we get to replace having cars built, the Jetsons on ground? Is it really this hard to produce a steam-engine form of transportation with its naturally-recyclable resources? The battery thing -- Well, any kid can tell you how that goes after 6 hours of Christmas playtime. We've been discussing rail and soccer becoming our national sport for over 30 years, give us a break already on this BS lie.

It's one thing to "save or create jobs", quite another for them to actually be the type worth saving or creating. This is all just a bad comic book right now -- 'Superwallet, and his trusty sidekick, the Boy Blunder'.

i had my first experience with broadcast digital tv this weekend and i can say without a doubt that it bites the big one. in Maine, my familie's house only ever got 2 channels. you can see the antenna to one of them from where the TV sits. that channel came in so strongly that it actually came in on 5 as well as what 6, which is the channel it really is. we also got channel 8, but only marginally.

now that the switch is official, we get 6 only, and it digitizes, stalls out, and says no signal 50% of the time, making it completely useless.

i give the big switch an f-.

The digital conversion has been a big flop so far. Nobody is broadcasting in wide-screen format to fill that empty space you have wasted on your TV without stretching everyone into a fattie and a simple thunderstorm wipes out every channel.

Yet, my cable company keeps feeding me daily mail begging to convert to digital phone, which costs just as much and wipes out each time with cable, not to mention is simple TCP/IP technology that you can get free or use Magic Jack, RingCentral, etc for much less.

It's all a crock. There's no way I am going to have my phone and TV going out simultaneously every time it rains or someone slams into a pole. Using candles with no means of emergency communication is not 'progress'.
