The post below is from another forum. In a thread about the economy, this individual posts up the following about the stimulus. Apparently this guy lives in Nebraska.

I work for the government, and my agency received a nice chunk of stimulus money for equipment, and projects. Most of the money will be going to projects. The problem is, these projects. Who do you think the winning contactors hire? They hire mostly mexicans to do the work, who in turn send their earnings to Mexico to their families. These workers get work visas for like 9 months or so, then return back to Mexico. I have first hand knowledge of this. It is so bad, a stipulation had to be put in the contracts that there must be an english speaking foreman on the jobsite at all times. Most of the time, you have to fight with the contactor to meet this aspect of the contract, and you usually get several different foreman during the length of the contract that speak broken english at best.

My question is, how does this stimulate the economy? I thought this money was intended for our economy, and not the Mexican economy.

Aside from the stimulus, there are several government contracts in place that work the same way. And don't say they are doing the jobs that Americans won't do, because I can't tell you how many Americans want these jobs but can't get them now. We had Americans lined up putting in for these jobs for $11 an hour. Each and everyone of these Americans were veterans at that, and can now no longer get these jobs.

If they have visas, they are legal to work here. Taxes paid. Free enterprise. Keep expenses down.

Another unintended consequence of Obama's misguided actions.

Agreed. If it's taxed then I have no problem with it.

I have a problem with stimuli money paid with taxpayer money going ot non-citizens, it should go directly to U.S. citizens. I just flew back in from Zurich Switzerland last night and they buy mostly Swiss products and look out for their citizens first, probably why they are one of the richest countries with little crime. I cannot work in Zurich and take the job from a Swiss citizen, they protect themselves and there is nothing wrong with that.

No, they look out for their citizens first. You cannot even buy a home in a populated area if your not a citizen or you need a permit, they want to make sure Swiss citizens get first choice.

Their president is equal to all members of parliament, each year one member is promoted to president only for the year, they are all equal and the president has not more authority than any other member.

They have an average unemployment rate of 1/2% and the average home price is well in the million of dollars, very wealthy put together country, impeccable streets, lake so clear you can see the bottom. Whatever they are doing, they have done it right!

You can work in Switzerland, certainly. Just don't think about taking a job from a Swiss person.
