Fox News is reporting that Sarah Palin has announced
that she will resign the office of Governor at the end
of this month.

No details on the reason for this resignation...

It might be something health related or something family related. Hard to say...but very strange.

Palin was destined to be a footnote.

She had no depth or intellect. She was another politician who preached family values but could not instill them in her own family. I have maintained those things right along, as you all know. It has absolutely nothing to do with her being a Republican.

The emails from the Presidential race of last fall also, and very importantly, exposed her as narrow, demanding, self centered, and petty. Clearly she was not a team player.

It is still not clear to me at this moment whether she will not run for the Governorship next year or is resigning this month.

As for the reason, I sure as heck don't know. Maybe it has something to do with Todd.

But she was destined to be a footnote.

Since when has being stupid ever prevented someone from becoming rich or famous?

She's off to her new talk show and a book deal, will make at least 20 million and get the heck out of Alaska (which is all any Alaskan could ever want).

She'll be winging it all the way to a beach island for the rest of her life ,while we piss and moan about our latest client falling apart. Yeah, she's stupid alright... all the way to the bank.

Quitters don't get elected, so she knows she isn't going to run in 2012. So now, who is the next lib target? I'd love to see them take on Gingrich. LOL

My personal opinion (which she has yet to seek) is that she grossly overestimates her abilities and her appeal?

I think of all the words written here on BO in her defense and support.

I think of all the voters who voted for her to become their Governor.

I think of everybody who touted her as a possible President.

And then she quits. Just quits. A grandstand quit on the eve of the Fourth of July, for cripes sake.

In my personal philosophy, one doesn't quit.

That anyone here who put themselves on the line and said she was a great Governor, a great VP choice, and a great possible nominee for President,

I think it is proven that you were flat out wrong. Deflect and explain and smooth over all you try, you were wrong. If you continue to give excuses, then I value your contribution even less on the topic.

There are much better people in the GOP than Sarah Palin.

If I lived in Alaska, my lifelong thought would be 'HOW CAN I GET THE HELL OUT OF ALASKA?' Well, it takes enough money to relocate and live the dream. She's about to make it.

Wrong would be all the fools who felt that by being picked as a tag-along for VP, she had any intention of going further. Enough people like her to make her rich in entertainment media, which was her original occupation. Once she recognized the astounding monetary offers she had to turn down while in office, off she goes.

Sharp as a tack, if you ask me. Screw the American Ideal... Why put up with what she's endured and chase a pipe dream when you can just get rich enough to live anywhere you please? I sure wouldn't.

More power to ya, Sarah! Now let's go barbecue and get naked!

There will be more to this story in the future.

Do you think she would get re-elected even if she ran for Gov next election? There has been a lot that came out since she ran under McCain.

I think it would've been an up hill battle.

She would have been re-elected.

The argument now, if she would choose to run for National office, will be she didn't even finish her term in her current office. And, we all know you can't win a National election if you don't finish out.....wait a minute....didn't we have a guy run for President and win without finishing his term in office.

Stick a fork in her, she's done. Who cares what her reason was now, she should have given it during her dramatic (hardly) resignation. She's about as relevant as Quayle was and won't get as far as he did. I won't support a quitter and that's what she appeared to be to me.

she's gonna cash in & make millions now. Honestly I think it's a good move on her part. Her personality is more suited for celebrity, the pvt sector and other endeavors i.e., like Al Gore vs the restrictive constraints & microscope up your-nameless body cavity of public service & politics (and that is meant as a compliment).

She'll be laughing all the way to the bank at the liberal media who felt the need to attack her so ruthlessly, hence make her relevant & important. I think it's a great move on her part, she's not Presidential matireal IMO but w a little work could become somewhat of an American Icon that could make some big, big bucks in the pvt sector like Carolyn Kepcher did by capitalizing on her 'The Apprentice' fame. She makes 20x the money now that Trump had to let her go because she was in such high demand for speaking engagements, book deals, endorsements, product branding etc etc.

This is likely the real reason. Still, I have no reason to read her book or watch/listen to anything she has to say now. She's just like the rest of them.

If she resigned to run for POTUS that is an AWFUL move. It is much better to run for a job when you have a job just like it is much better to interview for a job when you already have a job. You seem less desperate.

She is... except for the part where she said "screw it" after everyone decided to make fun of her children, which of course would have never happened to a Democratic candidate.

I would have respected that decision had that been the stated reason for her quitting, but that's not what I heard her say. And you're right, it wouldn't have happened to a Democratic candidate.

Actually, she did mention it as one of her reasons, the intense scrutiny of her family and mentioning Trigg specifically.

The abhorrent levels of sheer ignorance here is mind blowing. The only comment that made any sense is Frank's...

The lady had no business running for national office and everyone's backhanded support for her quitting what she was hired to do are simply efforts to marginalize the gross error of supporting her in the first place.

No one will waste any time with Gingrich ... he's a has-been, washed-up politician. Next.

I say that Palin resigned because, as you state, she's about to make a lot of money but her real reason is that she is too afraid of dealing with the massive economic plight of Alaskans in these difficult times. Oil company money kept her looking good and in the limelight but that is dwindling rapidly while Alaska is struggling financially like so many other states.

She's gonna run alright ... she is not smart enough to quit and go enjoy her new fame and fourtune outside of politics.

Could you show us where she "ran" for a national office, as in "sought of her own accord"?

It was my belief that McCain "ran" of his own will and later picked her as a "running-mate" after achieving enough votes on his own for the nomination. I do not remember a 'Sarah Palin' presidential campaign, could you please point us to it?

Vice Presidents don't "run" the campaign, they are selected by the person who did.

"Sheer ignorance"?

Bottom Line: Pointing the finger at the losers of the election is not going to distract anyone from the actions of the winner, no matter how badly you guys try. Palin is irrelevant until you hear her state that she is running for office. To date, she has not. Let's take a peek at the winner and wonder why the scrutiny is being so intently focused upon yesterday's news. Where does the finger point tomorrow?

I smell 'Opanic' from the flock. It's a cry for help, a scream of "What have we done!" voiced as a whisper.

In a few days when Palin is criminally indicted on fed. corruption charges for receiving a free house in return for a multimillion dollar building contract will the right wing zealots continue to believe she has "personal integrity" and is only "protecting her family"? Palin has proven that, in addition to being woefully uneducated and ignorant she is both immature and irresponsible. You don't have to be a Dem or independent to see that as those characteristics transcend political labels. The right-wing nutjobs are still rehearsing the lie.....the Dems are worried!!!!LMAO
