Who would want a 8 ft long python as a pet w/a 2 yr old in the house?

Really, do some people lack even the slightest common sense to see this
as a bad idea?

Who wants one anyway? I guess it's cool when you're a teenager, or if it's
only complementing your mullet, skid row records, and monster truck in the driveway,
but seriously?

2 yr old girl died because someone wanted to have a zoo exhibit as a pet...I hope he gets tons of charges filed against him.

One of the most nervous times I ever had as a Loan Officer was the time I met a couple in their home in Northern NH. A huge terrarium with a huge snake. The terrarium was end to end with the crib in the LR. They did not qualify and I did not beat around the bush in working up the numbers.

The quote about the "stupid snake" had me scratching my head. The snake was not the stupid one in that household.

While I agree that it was totally stupid that thing is not a pet. No jail time will ever hurt as much as losing a child.

In some of my area the pet of choice is a pit bull. Again no freakin pet to have with small kids. Don't care how nice the dog is.

And down the street from my friends place there is a place that watches big cats and snakes. The place was a total mess before exteme home makeover fixed it up. Sorry there is no way I would live there, i hate leaving there at night. Regular chain link fence is not going to hold a 600 lbs male tiger if he wants out.

No excuse. If people are going to have animals like that they have to be responsible for them. Probably subprime borrowers. On the bright side, their genes won't be passed down.

Lots of messed up people out there. I normally don't read drama stories, but got caught up reading a story last night about a 12 year old girl that was raped by her brother AND had his baby! Whatever you do, don't read the story:

You don't read them, you live them! Life with your tenants and internet girlfriends is a drama story!! And you're always kind enough to share the drama with us. =)

LOL! Tenants have 3 more weeks until they have to be out. As far as dating, I go for quality VS. quantity.

On a different note, take a look at the daughter. She looks like both parents, but parents are brother and sister....very strange...Can you imagine telling people that your parents are brother and sister?

We raised our daughter with 2 pits(in MD, 20yrs before becoming a redneck, LOL), we didn't have to worry about her, we worried about those they perceived didn't like her...Then THEY had a problem, not her!...Probably why she never got spanked too, hmmm...LOL

I'll take a snake or pitbull around my kids before an alcoholic anyday...People do more to kids than pets...Sad story as always though...

I'm glad nothing ever happened to your daughter...

I just don't understand why people have big dogs like that. Haha...yeah Craig lots of those in the IE huh, and it seems like almost weekly there's a news report from out there of a pit bull eating someone!

It just seems a little dangerous. I think it might be more of a guy thing.

I have a baby on the way and we have a 1 year old German Shepherd. She's a great dog but I don't think I would ever leave her alone with my kid. I even had someone come and evaluate her, to make sure she's not agressive.

I had two 8 ½ foot anacondas when I was in high school. I got rid of them though when my sister got pregnant just for this reason.

Thats crazy...I always wanted something like that but I realize the risk. Maybe if I lived in the middle of NOWHERE and had no family around.

Could you let them out and mess with them and stuff or did they stay in a cage 24/7??

^^^^I take back everything I said in this post, cause Craig just made me remember that I've ALWAYS wanted a tiger. If I had the land, how cool would that be if I had a trained tiger?

And don't hate on pitt bulls, they're actually very good, albeit very protective dogs. I've been around several and if you raise them right they're some of the best and brightest dogs out there.

That's what they all say....
"Rosie the pit bull was the sweetest dog ever, right up until it ate my son. I just don't know what happened!!!"

No thanks.

I agree. They can be the most gentile dogs and then something snaps in there crazy brain. It's not like your child pulls the ear of a poodle and gets nipped, these dogs can and do cause serious damage. they aren't always the ones that are raised by the gang banger on the other side of the tracks either. I used to have a half pit half german shephard mix and he was a great dog which I believed would never hurt a fly, that is until the pastor from one of the churches nearby walked up my driveway. He went balistic, thank god for steel screen doors!

I was the only one that held them other than one of my friends that had large snakes. They were kind of evil. When you held them you had to have one hand around its neck right behind its head or it would bite you. One of them bit my mom’s hand the day I bought them. It messed her hand up real good. She hated snakes and that didn’t help any. I had an entire room in my basement that was turned into a giant terrarium. That’s where they spent most of their time. I did take them outside and let them crawl around the yard once and a while (I kept a very close eye on them). The neighbor kids got a kick out of them. I let them loose in my room every now and then too.

German Shepard (in my experience) are GREAT with kids.

When I was a baby and then when my two brothers were babies my grandfathers German Shepard Duke would always watch out for us. No one who was not family would ever be allowed to come near us. Duke would actually pull me around when I was in those baby strollers where you sit up and your feet dangle. Great great dog.

Most people don't seem to know this, but German Shepard's also lock jaws.

I also had a German Sheppard from 2nd grade until I was 24. It was great with my little brother, little sister and I. It never acted mean to us not even a growl. Never was worried that it would harm one of us. Oh wait except for the one time it bit my sister’s finger off. He was fighting with another dog and she tried to break it up and put her hands in the middle of it. She was in grade school and wasn’t thinking. They were able to sew it back on. It wasn’t the dogs fault though.

German shepherds are usually great but...my 2 year old got bitten in the ear by the neighbor's Shepherd. Thank God that's all that happened. They put the dog down. Their decision, not mine. I think if he'd really wanted to hurt someone he would have. It was more of a nip than a bite but they didn't want to take any chances, as they had kids too.

Certain animals can be domesticated. Dogs, cats, birds, cattle, but not freaking giant man eating 8 feet pythons!

That is one retarded parent and hopefully goes away for manslaughter and negligence
