Did I think that the United States would have a candidate running for President that had so many ties to
Terrorist Groups, ie Hamas
Corruption Rezko and the Chicago Machine
Racism as in racist church spewing so much HATE.. and myths about water supplies ( Aides) btw, what happens if you are white and have a tan, do you get Aides water too?
Seen a " man of the cloth" say God D$mn anything.. religious figures NEVER use God's name in vain.
And last but not least Start at the top, no experience.. just big talk
And to think.. not that long ago when Jessie Jackson ran for President people laughed.

I hardly watch it anymore, but with so many things going on I have tried to tune in a bit more.
I agree with some of his post, but it seems it has fallen on deaf ears.

HA! I love how they still try doing this Palin, VP vs Obam Pres thing. It just doesn't work that way. You may be voting for Obama, fine, whatever. I'm not here to change your mind just to make sure you know what a poor choice you are making and os I could say I told you so, lol.
HOWEVER, she actually has experience GOVERNING. Obama has experience writing books (maybe) and applying for jobs. |

I so feel your pain!
As one of my favorite talk show hosts always asks, "Are you a 9/10 person or a 9/12 person?"
Remember how galvanized the country was on 9/12, how being an American meant everything, how we cried for people we never knew, just because they were fellow Americans. Nobody cared if those who died were Republican or Democrat, just that they were Americans.
Some of my Democrat friends still can't believe G. W. Bush won a second term, but I know why. It was because people believed he could, and would (and by the way, has!) keep us safe.
And here we are, a very short 8 years later, and it seems that a lot of people have forgotten how they felt that day in '01.
I find it interesting though, how in an election year that was a COMPLETE gimme to the Dems, how this race could still be so tight. The Dems took the one year they knew they could not lose and chose the one candidate that we can not let win.
Imagine the election was Nov. 4th of 2001, and someone like Obama running...what do you think the chances of that campaign ever getting it's fee off the ground would be. Ya, not good!
If anyone would not have voted for him on 9/12 (or 11/4/01, as in my hypothetical) then you should not vote for him now. We are still in danger, we should NEVER FORGET 9/11/01! |

Michael, You live in Utah, doesnt everybody do what you just suggested? Its never a bad idea to have extra supplies and yes, even have protection. Good advice!!!
I don't know if everyone does it, however it is a big part of the culture here. I don't stockpile anything but it wouldn't be a bad idea I guess.
I might just be naive, but I can't bring myself to worry about that stuff. I try my best to not allow myself to join those who believe the end is near, and quite frankly if the day comes that I need those supplies, I think I would prefer to die. |

Same old, same old. Vote for so and so and the country will end. Thank goodness not everyone will fall for that line of thinking. Bush won two terms based on convincing people that they need to be afraid. It worked ... but not this time.
McCain/Palin has nothing good to offer this country. Hopefully the GOP would learn its lesson and come back with a great candidate (someone closer to a Reagan) in 4 years. Hopefully the moderate group within the GOP will prevail the next time.

The Mormons are the one's in Utah that stockpile the food, I can't remember why they do that, when god comes or something, they have to survive for a while we non Mormons are carted off to helena handbasket.

When they run out of food...will they go back to hunting and gathering? If without a job will they have money to buy the food to stock pile? In my world, being prepared is not called living in fear. And you made my case perfectly for me when you said that without a job one would not have the money to buy the food, hence the stockpiling now before tax-raising, employer-penalizing Obama gets in and a butt-load of people lose their jobs.
I think you're definition of fear is quite different from mine. |

If we survived Bush and his cronies, I don't think Obama could do any worse. I love the analogy.... If a coach has been losing for 8 seasons, would we hiring him (the same politics) again for the 9th season?? If Obama flops, and I seriously doubt it, I would feel better that we tried another course of action, than to follow the same old path. |

It's not the worry that he could do worse, it's the realization that we have so little time to make it better right now. This isn't the time to promote 'Joe from the mail-room' to be the new CEO.
To use your analogy, if you just had 8 losing seasons and were losing money from lack of sales and interest, facing the bankruptcy or loss of the team, would you hire a High School guy as the next coach? |

No we shouldn't prepare. We should let the government do it for us, right?
I would say the bill board is cheesy but you can't deny that he will raise taxes on all of us (how else will he implement all his healthcare plan). Seek to end public radio as we know it, further support aborions and work to nationalize gay marriage through the supreme court.
He will also stymie economic growth in this country by over taxing those who find ways to succeed and become wealthy via the 250k increased tax. His beliefs that increased taxing of corporations is good for business is remedial. Who wants to bust their hump to be the best when you will just be punished with more taxes? Maybe that is an easy decision for someone who has never managed or owned a company to make. Does Obama know the value of the dollar as he has made his way through school and his career on the govies tab. Also, cut military spending and halting our ability to protect our allies around the world. These are all things I say Hell No to. |

As usual, you enjoy the exaggeration of being prepared for an emergency. There is a huge difference between being prepared for an unforeseen event and having an underground shelter, food for a year, gas masks and firepower to take out a small army. The former is responsible living, especially if one is responsible for a child, spouse or elder. The latter is an extremist reaction, where I fear you want to place a McCain supporter and couldn't be more wrong.
Do you have a basic first aid kit? or do you wait for someone to get hurt and then go to the store? Or, is having a first aid kit extremist? |

I've got my own "stockpile" with enough food and supplies to cover us in case a disaster occurs that we actually live through. It's a pretty good idea, I don't however stockpile guns and extra ammo to protect myself from WWIII. I guess the guns don't go into mine because I live outside of UT

This goes along some of the statements A17 was making earlier. I wasn't so sure I wanted to post this, but it does represent an age group we don't see posting here. Keep in mind, I am in the South, Virginia, one of the battlegrounds.
My 21 year old son, an Obama supporter. He flat out told me (6 months ago) that he feared Obama was a target. It took me by surprise, so I quizzed him some more. This is the concensus among his peers, and it crosses party lines. What scares me is they have completely accepted it as fact and they believe we will see a repeat of the 1968 riots if it happens, president or not. How did our youth get so jaded? |

The Ayers stuff is a joke...the DA who charged Ayers in the 70's when Obama was 8 years old wrote a story which both the New York and LA Times just ran today. Try reading the facts.

The Ayers stuff is a joke...the DA who charged Ayers in the 70's when Obama was 8 years old wrote a story which both the New York and LA Times just ran today. Try reading the facts.

I fail to see that, he mentions Jesse Jackson, and lets be fair here, Jesse is and always has been been a race baiter, even calling those of his own race the N word, in regard to BO.
So, I agree.. Jesse Jackson would be a joke, and the thought of electing him is laughable.
The associations BO has, wether you find them to be a "joke" are fact, so where does the racism come in?
Craig, comments like yours are silly, if you are going to call someone a racist, then lay it out and say why, don't make statements like that unless you have something to back it up. Clearly you do not.

I do not think Obama is a "target", per se, where everything is purposely pointed at him. But I think that people are putting their head in the sand if they think he has no concerns about safety. Out of over 210 million people in this country, with half extremely skeptical about him, it's foolish to think there is not one specific loony who will not try to go that far. Of course, they don't always succeed, but it only takes ONE single person in a time where we have more guns available than ever.
Hell, Gerald Ford didn't even have time to make an enemy and he got shot at. Yet, I was reminded by one not-so-bright person that my thinking wasn't in the "21st century". We have better security nowadays and millions of people adore him and his promise to make the country better. After all, it is the 21st century. This type of thing just can't happen anymore.
Tell that to Benazir Bhutto. |

I would say that this is pretty racist. Comparing Obama to Jessie Jackson is like comparing Reagan to Bush. Why/How the comparison?? Education, background all so different. Isn't logical. I think we need to be careful here. Remember, this is a forum that you do business. Wouldn't be a good idea to destroy relationships that could be very advantageous for you. |

Pointing out that I have never heard a man of the cloth use God's name in vain is racist how? Because I mentioned Rev Wright and his racist remarks ? Umm it is what it is, he is the man that said it, he just happened to be black. Father Pfflager is a white man, he too said some racist things, I forgot to mention his name, does this make you feel better?
How is pointing out that Obama has no experience racist?
How is pointing out Jessie Jacksons attempt to run for president racist?
I have said NOTHING racist in this post. How little you know of me to even try to attempt to think I am a racist person.
I will tell you one thing.. those that scream racism are the most racist of all.
