Pontiac G8 takes down the BMW 5 Series!
This should be the commercial for the new Pontiac G8.
This is good stuff ... funny.

| I just wish it had a 6 speed available...other than that it's a hell of a lot of car for the cash. |

| Rear wheel drive and 6-speed manual xmssion is my minimum requirements. It has the former but lack the latter. |

I think a 6 speed is in the works.
Regardless, it crushes the Beemer ... which is a good thing.... something Pontiac should have been doing YEARS ago.

Here's a 6-speed Ferrari killer for a cool $105k. Corvette ZR1. 639HP!

While I applaud what Pontiac is doing with the G8 it is far too boy racer for me. I prefer the German approach (specifically Audi) of understated design.
Great car for the money but I wouldn't take either car if I were in the market for that class of car. The E60 BMW is about the ugliest car ever, but I would take a used E39 (1998–2003) M5 all day and pocket the extra cash. |

My fun cars have been Audis

I've had numerous Audi 5-cyl engines that we squeeze 300HP out of 2.2-2.3 liter engines without removing the head, just chips and breathing upgrades. The 90-91 CQ and TQA are some of the best bang for the buck. You can get a firstclass 300HP Euro Autobahn screamer for under $5k:

Oh I know E39 M5...WOW.
I'm keeping my eye out for a good deal on a c43 AMG. Super cheep and good looking lowered. Just blows trannies if you abuse 'em..

That was funny, but I don't see a comparison between Pontiac and BMW, EVER. Beating out in times is one thing, many companies are evolving and will be able to do this if they already can't. It's all about quality, and I'm sorry, the quality of the top German cars (BMW, MBZ, AUDI) is far superior than that of any American auto.
To me, it's all about the experience and QUALITY when purchasing a German auto. It's the same instance as the Hyundai Genesis trying to compare to BMW and MBZ. I have been in the car, and though the "peformance" is there, the ride, interior, sound, and quality still do not compare to the Germs.
If you are looking for a GREAT buy with GREAT performance, than this would be a sweet option. You just have to understand that you are not driving a BMW and shouldn't compare it to one, you are driving a Pontiac and should enjoy all it offers! |

| i like the g8. nice car. i would like to see them hit some corners in them side by side though. i think top gear did a test run in the vauxhaul version of the g8. i know they liked it, but its ussually the fit and finish and the overall experience that wins them over on that show. |
