Alaska panel finds Palin abused power in firing
By MATT APUZZO Associated Press Writer
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- A legislative committee investigating Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has found she unlawfully abused her authority in firing the state's public safety commissioner. The investigative report concludes that a family grudge wasn't the sole reason for firing Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan but says it likely was a contributing factor.
The Republican vice presidential nominee has been accused of firing a commissioner to settle a family dispute. Palin supporters have called the investigation politically motivated.
Monegan says he was dismissed as retribution for resisting pressure to fire a state trooper involved in a bitter divorce with the governor's sister. Palin says Monegan was fired as part of a legitimate budget dispute.

| I just downloaded the report (it is 263 pages) and realized I'm not that interested. Your read is much shorter. Thanks. |

I am wrong
The Panel that just released the report has 12 people on it and they voted 12-0 to release it.

IT was interesting reading about it.
They were prepared to sit on it until after the election, but they released it because the McCain campaign was going to release one saying she did no wrong. |

I read about 100 pages, it's a quick read, deposition style, read the first 100 for yourself, it's funny! Sarah is going to get her ass sued by the former Head of the AK DPS, and possibly her ex-BIL for harassment. It's quite instructive as to how she thinks gov't works, and sad at the same time. This is what public service, and public servants have become, office for personal gain! Sad.

I believe the details will see the light of day over this weekend. Reading thru the report, you get some insight in to how Ms. Palin governs.
If the Dems were smart, they would draw attention to Gov. Palins constant refrain that she has "Executive experience" however the report points to numerous incidences of what can only be described as amateur hour at the Statehouse.
1) The matter with Trooper Wooten (the former brother-in-law) was adjudicated by the previous administration. The AK State Troopers have a union, and the matter was handled, and the employee was reprimanded and punished. Case closed.
2) The Palins, both pursued the case against the BIL from within the office of Gov. and outside, with a Private Investigator, that also could find nothing new to add to the case.
3) The matter was an employer/employee matter that Gov. Palin involved her husband in, revealing personnel records and discussion with him.
4) Todd Palin, First Gentleman, sat in on numerous (half) the Governors Cabinet meetings, which are confidential, and not open to the public or non-state employees.
5) Todd Palin was CC'd on numerous e-mails (hundreds) of a confidential nature, between Cabinet level state officers.
6) Gov. Palin used non-secure e-mails (yahoo) to conduct sensitive State business.
7) Gov. Palin was warned numerous times by Cabinet level and Executive Branch employees (AG, DPS Commish., Director of Personnel, Commish ao Administration, etc.) to drop the matter, but she continued what appeared to most to be a personal vendetta.
The details of how Gov. Palin governs are nothing short of freightening, and her insistence of her qualifications, of her Executive Experience are shameful. This investigation, by a former prosecutor, at the behest of the legislature, will resonate with voters, that Gov. Palin is unfit to be Governor, not to mention VP!

| The public was not buying the BS before the findings. Not only frightening but insulting to think that McCain chose her over many capable women within the GOP. |

Where is the thread on the Obama real estate deal? Surely you must have a news release somewhere on THAT topic.

This guy [the Alaska guy] has been shown to be a scumbag and this is as much of a non-story as the one in the link I just posted above. |

I don't think that the trooper-gate report will have any negative impact on the poeple who currently support Palin as they are not going to change their minds. I also do not think that any voter who was considering voting for Palin would change their mind and not vote for her. The biggest problem that the GOP ticket has is that they are failing to convince non-commited voters to vote for them.
Considering that the entire population of Alaska is less than a small city like Jacksonville Florida, politics there is small time. Not too many people really care about what happens in Alaska other than the oil we get from that State. It s easy to get 70% of the people to say they like you if you put a nice bit of money in their pockets every year ... call it welfare paid for by the oil companies.
The report really is not a big deal even though it is a good thing to have had it published for all to consider.

| This is another clear indication of what is considered acceptable. It's quite alright for people that are holding government positions depending who they are to abuse that power. |

The report only focused on the First Dude having free access to the government office, phones and people to be his wife's enforcer. While that was wrong, the stuff she is being accused of are really trivial in the overall scheme of things ... and I'm not her supporter.
