WASHINGTON – The Republican National Committee plans to file a fundraising complaint against Democrat Barack Obama's presidential campaign Monday, alleging it has accepted donations that exceed federal limits as well as illegal contributions from foreigners.

RNC officials acknowledged Sunday that they do not have a list of foreign donors to Obama's campaign. Instead, the complaint is based largely on media reports, including one from the conservative Web site Newsmax.

The complaint asks the Federal Elections Commission to audit Obama's campaign fund, RNC chief counsel Sean Cairncross said in a conference call with reporters.

Cairncross said little is known about many of Obama's donors because the campaign is not required to disclose detailed information about people who give less than $200.

The Obama campaign, which is not accepting public funds, has raised more than $468 million. About half has come from small donors, a point of pride for the Obama campaign.

It is really sad that the GOP is basing complaint off of Blogs.

No, its not! This has been an issue for the last 6 months but the Republicans have laid off. Why, I don't know.

There have been a lot of shady internet donations that have funneled massive amounts of money from unkown and those known like suspected terrorist groups, asian and russina businessman, etc. This wreaks of teh 96 election with Clinton and the asian businessman x 10.

Does anyone wonder how Obama is able to out raise everyone in the history of campaigns? Even the Clinton machine, by a landslide. We all know this money isn't coming solely from his base of support, let's be honest.

I would think it is an indicator Americans are sick of the current administration and have put their money where their mouth is by sending donations in hopes a new president representing a different party could change things?

Where do you speculate the "mystery money" is coming from?

And he is the first Major Party Candidate not have the Taxpayers Fund pay for his Campaign.

What is wrong with this now?

I understand before the interwebs that you could not collect campaign donations very easily.

The fact the GOP is basing this on a blog is sad.

Once again no proof of Mystery Money.

They have had to report where every penny is coming from.
