Let us congratulate Rachel Maddow for getting her own television show. This is really impressive. She is smart and well prepared. Congratulations.

Rachel Maddow has been sounding off about politics on MSNBC so often she might as well have her own show.

And now she does.

The liberal commentator and Air America host, who has become a breakout star for the cable channel during this campaign, is taking over the 9 p.m. slot following Keith Olbermann, who she often subs for on "Countdown." Olbermann broke the news in what he called a "fully authorized leak" this afternoon on the left-wing Web site Daily Kos. Dan Abrams, the former MSNBC general manager who had been hosting "Verdict" at that hour, will continue as NBC's chief legal correspondent and will be a daytime anchor for MSNBC.

And apparently has a higher testosterone level, too. The last thing I'd ever watch is an Air America liberal with her own TV show.

I don't have a problem with that ... I always thought that she was smart and witty. I got to like her when she took on Pat Bucanan directly when he made a real dumbazz comment on a show on MSNBC and she impressed me with the articulate response she hit him with.

You haters are pathologically ignorant. I love your ability to demonstrate it often. You people would not know if something is good if it smacked you in the face and called you momma. You people are so afraid of an intelligent progressive it is so funny - Todd Blue, nasdaq456, et al. YOU people are so ignorant. Continue to listen to Rush, Hannity, et al. We will run circles around you.

You sure as hell aren't doing it on your own. That's for sure.

PS- Didn't Air America go bankrupt (as this venture soon will too)? That's too bad, I'm sure it made good, good sense.

Liberal Progressive is what you really meant, and yes it's something to be feared, like Cancer, for instance.

Too funny, a liberal used the phrase 'You people'. What do you mean by 'You people'? I thought that was taboo. I thought liberals were supposed to be open minded and accepting of all beliefs.
As far a Rush and Hannity go, there is a reason they have millions of listeners. Just as there is a reason Air America was a disaster. It's because when liberalism is studied and discussed, it just doesn't make sense.

Jay, Do you even know what party I belong to?

And our country was founded on religous based Constitutional ideals liberals have been chipping away at ever since.

If you Dims, or libs, or progressives, or socialists or whatever name really describes you truly were most like our Founding Fathers, how come you spend so much time objecting to 'originalists', and keep wanting to change the Constitution to suit your present desires, aka allowing people like that bulldyke to get married to another woman?

(side commentary- Jay never actually elaborates on his stance on anything, unless it's a ratesheet)

Always assume correctness when arguing a point. If the other guy debates it's because they are "stupid"

Liberal playbook.

A huge part of our country's founding was to escape religous oppression and promote religous freedom. Modern liberals have done their best to remove religion from our country.

Another huge factor in our founding was to fight unfair taxation. Modern liberals are the worst big government tax and spenders out there.

Let us not forget liberals attacking the 1st Amendment by trying to push new 'equal time/ fairness doctrine' laws so they can get out their message that has failed when attempted
in a free market.

Or, liberals attacking the 2nd Amendment at every turn.

The list goes on and on. Now, without resorting to name calling, tell me where I'm twisting things?

And for the record, I'm a Libertarian.

Let's not forget the profileration of "political correctness", affirmative action (my favorite) expansion of the welfare state (even to illegals!), and the shambles Liberal government creates, see CA for instance. Financially it's a train wreck.

Liberals are unpopular (and henceforth the deragotory connotation it has) for those reasons.

The tail wags the dog- as my father says...

Reagan removed the fairness doctrine.

You who are libertarian / Randy's are the ones who use character assassination. Avoid facts and attack the person on their strengths.

Your party is the borrow and spend, we are the worlds largest borrower - it is not good.

Again, she is smart and knows her stuff - deal with it.

I'm not Todd but a better question may be what is right about reinstating the Fairness Doctrine? In all my Liberalness I have no desire to have the FCC dictating the content of privately held broadcasts. Let the free market work that one out.

Congrats to Rachel. She will do well I hope.

It flies in the face of free speech and commercial broadcasting. It is the government forcing broadcasters to allow access to the airwaves. It is restricting the free speech and 1st Amendment rights by taking time from one point of view and forcing time for the opposition to speak. If the message is important enough to strike a chord with listeners, it should find it's own commercial avenue. If I wanted to hear liberal points of view, I would have listened to NPR, or Air America. If I wanted to hear neo-cons I would listen to Rush or Hannity.

It's like a hard rock station being forced to give equal time to opera so we are forced to hear both sides of the spectrum of music.

Government should never take away the the 1st Amendment right of one political view in order to have it forceably replaced by it's opposition.

Freedom of speech does not guarantee your right to be heard.

And, by the way, who gets to decide what fairness is?
