Just a few minutes ago, the Steve vs Moe thread was locked by Admin/forum adminstrator.

Darin shows once in a while to police and offer guidance.

Are we talking one and the same?

Is there a dichotomy?

Are there two mods, or one with two names (which of course would be against BO rules :)

Just curious. There can be twenty mods for all I care.

My thoughts are IB has a room of 5-10 people who monitor all of their "forum" type sites for regulation. It appears as they are getting pretty intense, deleting most off topic threads and threads that do not promote the wellness of this site & community.

Your BO intelligence thread got deleted, right after my reply which stated "truckloads of BO members are on the lower end".

Darin moderates and IB has moderators. I recall a time when Darin posted something under the ADMIN account (long before he sold BO). I don't know if he is using that account or if he turned it over to someone at IB.

Either way, there are several moderators.

MortgageBoarder,

I think you are right about how IB polices their many sites. I also picture a room full of mods, or revolving mod assignments. Nothing wrong with that. Only that I miss the full time attention of Darin to BO, if indeed he has any role now at all.

Gee, I didn't even notice that the "IQ" thread had been deleted.

The IQs' of mortgage folks here is not worthy of discussion, satire, earnest discourse?

That's kind of strange.

I kick in when there are a ton of complaints on a topic.. for the most part the IB guys have some people overlooking and doing some mods now.

IB does use the Admin account, I simply login with my original account to check on things.

ray,

when it comes to free alcohol offers, i learned a long time ago that you have to be very very careful, and offer strict guidelines. i have watched my crew jam a company credit card for 10gs at a bar, just cause they could.

Hopefully the moderator is gaining an appreciation for just how far this once-might forum has fallen, and will help in elevating it to its previous status.

It was once an on-topic, literal discussion forum free of the childishness that permeates it today. Too many members with too many screen names, and way too many that have nothing, literally nothing, to offer other than juvenile comments and down-in-the-moutn forecasts.

i disagree w johnnie. when there were 10 million actual scenario postings flying by, there was still plenty of drama, plenty of goofing off, and plenty of bull****ting going on.

things are just much slower. the membership is dwindling. the goofy stuff just stands out more.

valid point too. however i do think there are way BIGGER disagreements as new industries unfold before us. Very competitive out here from what I see.

Completely accurate assessment. Aside from the disagreements, there are those who hang out on this forum day in and day out with nothing to offer and apparently having nothing of use to do in life other than to use this as a free access pulpit to expound on their personal views, disparage and pass judgment on others since this is the only audience they can find who cannot refuse their presence. It's as if the fact that they haven't been asked to leave for coming back and creating multiple accounts after being banned somehow has them confused that they are imbued with an omnipotent status. These arrogant nuts are self deluded to believe that in their superiority others here actually look for their approval and permission to think as individuals with their own opinions and the right to participate as members here. I also look forward to the forum rules actually being enforced someday so that these useless distractions from the mortgage industry will be eliminated from BO.

Slants,

The discerning reader will realize that you just defined yourself, almost point for point.

The question of this topic is "who is moderating BO."

I think Darin answered it quite clearly.

And I think that most of us in this thread have enjoyed the exchanges along the way. I have come to learn that among other things, there is a bit of fellowship on BO. We certainly do not all agree, but that is ok.

Your rush to the podium is ...

Aw, it is not worth arguing about.

I disagree. If you limit this forum strictly to the "Who Can Do This One..." crowd and don't allow for some variety, this forum would die within a year from sheer boredom. As stated earlier, it has always had it's entertainment value, which was just lost in the shuffle of duplicated scenario posts.

Do you think the popularity of BO was built upon one big 'company meeting' of mortgage professionals or the fact that all sorts of new ideas can crop up here?

No matter how wild they may seem, if you limit these discussions to "work-related only", people are simply going to leave here and go back to work, or find another forum that is less-restrictive. Nobody comes here for the multitude of Announcements or vendors, I guarantee you.

In fact, this forum needs to be a slight breather from the workday and provide some sort of release or entertainment value. Otherwise, this is not a forum and is merely a research web-site. The library is not exactly exciting, which is why the internet is quickly replacing them.

You also lose the chance that somehow, some way, these off-topics will flow on topic and reveal something previously unknown. Just the mere chance of that happening makes it worthwhile. What you are advocating is to muzzle people you don't care for, which is the exact opposite goal of a community get-together.

It's not going to be fun if there are only 5 people sitting around discussing nothing but the same thing every day. Maybe this place isn't for 'fun', but some concessions have to be made if you expect a large group of people with different personal interests to visit your site and converse with one another. Sure, you can have less arguments with less people, but I don't know any web site with advertisers that wants less people. That's a pretty idiotic goal.

I don't come here to pump up my 'mortgage libido', I come here because the people can, at times, be fascinating. There is nothing wrong with this forum except for it's lack of variety in separating areas for topics, which by the way would achieve the goals of people on both sides of this issue.

I like to keep up with the mortgage biz, but I'm not willing to fall asleep while doing it. But if they'd rather make it a graveyard, so be it.

There you go underestimating readers' discernment. Any discerning reader can conclude I wasn't referring to myself. I don't have multiple accounts nor have I ever been banned. I contribute useful information all day, everyday, in fact just a few minutes ago unlike someone whom posters in this very thread have been referencing, but you are right, individuals like this are completely not worth arguing about which was the whole point of my post.

O*M*G!! O*M*G!!

Assassin's next post will be 3000! I rather agree with much of what you have written and believe our option to the dilemma you mention is selective clicking. If it's OT and you aren't in the mood to see someone's brain cell count, don't click.

If you want to get in the mud on a comp check debate, go for it. In the same breath, don't click on it to say "why again?"

It's called choice.

And, I think we have great self-moderation for spelling, dictionary, legal, sourcing, and if you want to moderate common sense, that should be interesting. Stupidity moderating is borderline insulting.....but then again, many have it coming.

Assassin, I almost always agree with your take on every subject, but in this case, you have misinterpreted his point. This is what he says defines me personally: "there are those who hang out on this forum day in and day out with nothing to offer and apparently having nothing of use to do in life other than to use this as a free access pulpit to expound on their personal views, disparage and pass judgment on others since this is the only audience they can find who cannot refuse their presence."
