This Town Prints Its Own Money! ... and it's working beautifully.

Very interesting.

Here's something you may like, between Obama and McCain, if I read this right, they have 87 sponsored bills between them and 0 passed...I think that says we're looking good for the future as neither of these guys seem to be able to get anything thru!...

"What ever town I'm currently in"

... is what I think Steven Colbert would say.

I think I read about this- it is more to generate spending within the town and to keep the $ local. Good idea, but not unlike buying tokens to spend at a German Festival/Irish Festival type fair or winning skeeball currency.

Tokens are currency.

Those Federal Reserve Notes we carry are also "tokens" ... but on a much larger scale.

Of course, one of the main differences between these Ithica 'Hours' and our US Dollars is how the value is determined and what controls that value.

In Ithica, the free market determines the value of their currency.

In Washington DC, a secretive cartel of international bankers determine the value of the currency.

Which do you think is a better approach? ... and which do you think is more stable ?

I think having a secretive cartel of international bankers determine the value is better because they are way more smarter than what we are.

And as long as they don't change who is on that cartel, it would be alot more stable than allowing world events to cause value fluctuations.

For the sake of argument, "no".
Or maybe "yes".

Whatever gets your dander up...

You amuse me.
