I'm always trying to grow as a human being and as a career person. I had a situation where I made a suggestion to my company that was more or less ignored for a few months. Then the company hired a new telemarketing center manager and he suggested the same idea that I had. Well I don't know if it is because he is a manager or if he sold them on the idea better than I did or because he is a guy and I'm a girl but they have implemented the idea and he is getting all the credit for having the idea. It's not a huge deal to me, and I really like the manager and everyone there but still....
Have you guys seen or experience this? What should I do the next time I get an idea to make sure I get credit for it? Or am I just being a big baby? I'm straight comission so it's not like I'm going to get a raise or anything but??? |

| Sounds like it could be more of a distracting issue, I'd let it go but see if it works first, you may not want the credit! :-) |

If you believe in the idea, I would damn well point out that I brought it up first. If it doesn't work, then bring up the fact that the new guy must suck at implementing it and they should have let you handle it.

This new guy is doing his job so don't go rain on his parade. He has nothing to do with your history at the company. Don't take it out on him or his work.
One of the top reasons why ppl dont like presentations is because they dont see the person giving the presentation as an authoritative person. In other words....they dont take you seriously.

It's ok-I don't take anything Banker says seriously.
It's not a huge deal. Actually, the new guy and I get along famously. We help each other out all the time. He's more experienced in the business than me-he probably sold them on the idea, I just suggested it.
Thanks guys for the advice. |

If it still bothers you...maybe go to the new manager and say something like..."I'm really glad they took your suggestion on implementing that new idea. I actually suggested something a little similar to that, but it probably wasn't thought out and presented as well as you did it. How did you pitch it to them?"
That way at least you can learn how he got his idea across to them. |

I love that idea Jason! I'm going to do that when the opportunity presents itself and I'll try to remember to post what he tells me.

Let it go... one of the philosophies I try to live by is... You'd be surprised how much can be accomplished when you don't care who gets the credit.
