I was thinking about trying to produce a low budget informercial for reverse mortgage loans. Anyone ever try to make one?
Thanks, |

I messed around with Guthy Renker a couple years back. It's extremely expensive compared to radio advertising, not really worth the cost IMO.

You can buy Reverse mortgage leads from the Senior Lending Network. They do the Robert Wagner commercials you see all the time

The biggest problem that I remember running into was they want you to sign away all rights to what it is you're selling. You basically give carte blanche reign for them to run with your idea if they choose to. The contract is extremely 1 sided and I was turned off to it right away.
I'm sure you can get some local stations to give you a block of 30 minutes at off hours or something, but I was looking at national advertising at the time.

I know someone who swears by infomercials. They claim that at that time of a night, it is the impulsive people who watch them. And if they have to do with money, they will dream about it when the go to sleep. So I am for it.

ReverseIT has 30 and 60 second canned commercials for radio and TV, and they'll brand them to you.

Clarence, you are definitely on the right track! Comcast, seems to be your local cable-tv provider and, in many markets, Comcast has a local production studio in addition to a Community Channel that features local businesses.
Three years ago here in Charleston SC (also Comcast) we greatly benefited from a very professional video production which was provided at a very competitive price for two of my client projects... Canadian RX Pharmacy = low cost prescriptions for "us" and also an infomercial for the Home Builders Consulting Group.
In both cases, aside from the 1/2-hour infomercial, a series of :30-second ads were produced from the infomercial segments for local insert into selected program channels.
The 1/2 hour infomercial cost less than $3K (Guthie Renker in CA would probably charge $100K or more)and the :30 second spots probably came in at $350 each (editing, voice over and captions).
In fairness... I have a background in infomercial production so I did the "storyboard" and sequencing which would ordinarily have added at least $3K to the cost.
With that infomercial "in the can" you can then air it on the local Comcast access Channel at a very reasonable cost... and also approach your local network affiliates for a late night/early morning local access slot.
REVERSE MORTGAGES NEED "LONG FORM" EXPLANATION. You should also explore local AM/FM talk-radio stations for a Saturday morning 1-hour live talk show slot (YES, you will pay for the airtime and production!) and secure a 26-week schedule aimed at the active senior market. Need to share cost? Then see if you can hook-up with a local franchisee of "Home Instead" or a local CPA/CFP who is "after" the Senior market.

Raymond... I haven't been "missing"! Well, maybe somewhat reduced in terms of posting frequency since I exited from the HUD Code game mid 2007. However, check out my postings in the "Announcements" section to see what I am up to now.

Thanks for the input. My wife is a professional singer(mainly church/synogogue/weddings/funerals) so I was thinking of doing a jingle as well.
