Is this the NBA FINALS? Did I just watch Ray Allen score an uncontested layup with 14 seconds left? Did Leon Powe drive the length of the court for an uncontested slam the other night?

I guess the "hard foul" has gone the way of the short shorts? Maybe they figure the scary tattoos will intimidate the opponent?

"What happened to that guy's Lakers thread?"

Mister VA, above

It was deleted quite a while ago. It was not mortgage related.

See TUFF SENERIAL. It is a mortgage related thread.

The feeling I had in my stomach at the end of the game must be how a client rescinding on a loan feels (to keep this thread mortgage related). Celtics just dominated on defense, Lakers completely forgot what they did in the first half, they were defering to Kobe too much and didn't have confidence in their shots. I know Phil Jackson likes his teams to "play it out" but not calling time outs during some of those stretches the Celtics were on fire didn't help either. Pretty much will take a miracle for the Lakers to win now.

What happened to Kobe Bryant? For those of you that say he is as good as or better than Jordan do you think Jordan would have ever let that happen in a finals game?? No he would have take over and put some points on the board.

I think most of the Lakers fans who compare Kobe to Michael are a bit dellusional. I was a big Jordan fan in his hey day and I can honestly say Kobe has not reached his level, Jordan is top 5 ever to play the game (up their with Magic, Bird, Chamberlain, and any number of other players filling the 5th spot), Kobe is arguably top 10. Kobe doesn't even compare himself to Jordan, and he doesn't like it when people do. Jordan is Jordan, and Kobe is Kobe.

I am a big Laker fan, but I could never compare Kobe to Jordan. Jordan made his teamates better, would we know who Scottie Pippin (sp) is if it were not for Jordan? He trusted his teamates, and moreso when they messed up he didn't trash them, he let them know it was okay. Kobe on the other hand could not pass the ball to anyone until this year. He has always been a selfish player, the announcers were making such a big deal that he had 8 assists toonight. Jordan would walk all over Kobe, and until Kobe learns to be a team player (which he slowely is learning) he will not win another ring without another superstar (Gasol, and Odom, if anyone even thinks, don't count)

To continue my Kobe rant, James has better numbers now, has better numbers than Kobe had after his first 4 years and is an overall better player.

I wouldn't say James is better than Kobe yet, at their respective points in their careers (4 years in) he is definitely ahead of where Kobe was at, but not better than Kobe yet. If James does continue to develop he certainly has the capability to overcome Kobe in terms of what he can accomplish.

Although I think the Celtics will win this, I have a good feeling the Lakers will win on Sunday. The Lakers really controlled their own destiny last night, sure the Celtics had TONS to do with their own comeback, but there were parts of the game where the Lakers simply could not deliver on easy plays where the ball should've gone in the hoop (several missed point blank layups & dunks) and horrendous defense (ala Sasha letting Ray Ray go in for the uncontested layup). If the Lakers can win on Sunday, and get into a good frame on mine for next Tuesdays game, then there is still hope.

Well if the Celtics are going to win it I'd rather them win it in Boston, I hate watching teams celebrate a final win on someone elses home court. They usually get boo'ed plus it's more exciting to win at home. If the Celtics do win, then I will be happy for them, as their franchise winning the NBA Finals will be good for the NBA as well as their team. Heck, been 22 years so it's about time.

Top 10? Are you kidding me? George Mikan was better. Pete Maravich was better. Bob Cousy was better. Bill Russell was better. Jerry West was better. Elgin Baylor was better. Kareem Abdul Jabbar was better. Oscar Robertson was better. Dolph Schayes was better. Bob Pettit was better. Hakeem Olajuwon was better. I'm not through, but you get the idea.

Lakers were disappointing last night but they will come back, win game 5 and then wrap up the series in game 6 at Boston.

How do you wrap up a series with 3 wins?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. What day and age you living in? I think these players mentioned are all hall-of-famers, but we're definitely in a new era of sports. The game has changed and I'm sure if Kobe played against these oldies, he can rack up 50 points easily with layups and hookshots 3 feet away from the basket. Tell me a player in the league that has a better jump shot than Kobe. Tell me a player that can double pump fake while fading away over 2-3 players other than Kobe or MJ.
If you're going to say Lebron or Dwayne Wade, hop on the bandwagon with those Celt fans. You should be comparing Lebron to Shaq, cuz all he can do is dunk.

Kobe's flow is what you call "black magic." Poetry in motion.

I'm assuming you guys don't even know anything about sports or even played the game. Whatever shows up on commercials or in the magazines you'll go along with, right?
No one wants to talk about Posey huh? Oh thats right, you guys prolly didn't know about him before the finals.

DAN Schayes was better! OK, maybe not, but I get your drift!
(side note: Dolph Schayes, NBA All-Time leading scorer at retirement, one of the NBA 50 greatest. Son Dan Schayes, NBA journeyman, made more in his FIRST YEAR, than his old man made in his career!)

I played. I referee. I watched most of these guys I mentioned play. I stand by my comments. I could mention the Knicks who won 2 championships in the 70s. They were not individuals though. They played as a team. But Kobe wouldn't know anything about that, would he?

The NBA is going strong...The Lakers are just getting dominated by the better team. Celtics destroyed them in regular season. I know it was without Gasol but still...I don't understand why people thought this would be close.

PS- Lebron James is already better then Kobe.

What are you talking about? Kobe doesn't know how to win as a team? Tell me what players he has on his team that are even considered good?. Laker's are even lucky to make it to the finals with the squad they have now. Did anyone even call the Laker's making the finals before the reg season started? No, and don't say because they recruited Gasol, because he is worth the same as what Yao Ming means to the Rockets, nothing. Winning as a team is the last thing you should talk about when dissing Bryant, because he showed in the past years that he is clutch. Besides, in what ways has he not been a team player? It's Los Angeles, don't count on him to always make a cinderella story in the end the way hollyood is used to.
