I'm trying to avoid wasting some time...

Just curious if anyone is successfully funding corn-based ethanol projects right now. One came across my desk but my understanding is that the market is pretty bearish on certain biomass projects right now. If this was a cellulose-based ethanol plant then it would have a stronger shot. But, as-is, I'm skeptical...

Thanks in advance for the input.

Last I read on BO there was an ethanol project being touted for the warehouse district of Baltimore. It was quite a thread.

You know, the city of Baltimore, right where they grow all that corn. Right by the source, to eliminate transportation costs of the raw product, I suppose. Is Greenbelt near Baltimore? Maybe that would be a better location.

It is incredible, the gullible "brokers" here on BO.

The man hours evidenced in this forum, chasing foolhardy dreams.

The ONLY one that I think would be interested that we know is a venture capital group that allows us to bring projects to them for their review....

We have done two biodiesel plants in the past 16 months..... no success on the ethanol plants.... big environmenta hoops involved....

Have a nice day....

Check out my Energy Funding posting in the "Announcements" section. I can assure you that ANY renewable energy project that is dependent on "food grade" intake = ethanol, is unlikely to attract the interest of the enlightened energy investor community.

In the past 18-months I have yet to see any ethanol production project that is remotely capable of yielding a profit.

Contrast that with a bio diesel Plant that is designed to use low cost "non food quality" intakes and even better, a high oil content, fast reproducing green algae and now you are making commercial sense!

The investor appetite you all described is pretty much the same as the market indications I had been receiving but it's definitely good to receive confirmation. The responses were much appreciated.

I wonder how viable it is going to be. I have a flex fuel vehicle that I paid extra money for and I wish I had done my research first. There is only one place I can get ethanol in Phoenix and it is more than gasoline with worse mileage. I would assume the production of it would have to dramatically increase, in order for prices to drop.
