Looks like some areas in Texas already have it, think of that potential new expense...Anyone have any more info or thoughts on whether we should be concerned or is it just bs-du-jour and will go away?...

I have a friend who is an IT professional. He ended up using something like 300GB of bandwith in less than a week, and got a call from his IP. They called only to inform him that they were going to shut down his internet connection for excessive usage. He appoligized and blamed it on a client and said that it would not happen again lol. It's kind of an unwritten rule at the moment. But will probably become standard in the following years as speeds get faster.

I'm surprised Comcast hasn't tried this.

Dial up will become the equivalent of a governor for your search engine!

They go one step further. They will cut off your internet access for 12 months if you breach their acceptable use policy. How much is too much? They don't specify in the agreement, just that if it impedes other's usage then you can get cut off.
Also found a story from last month stating that Comcast is thinking about adding specfic monthly caps.
