Wow, could you make our industry look shadier? Luckily we have a National Association of Credit Service Organizations (NACSO) meeting this Thursday where you and your company will be addressed.

Just for the fun of it, I sent an email to this company and they want $5000.00 to do this illegal service for you! They want it up front and they supposedly offer a money back guarantee and assured me it was totally legal!

Presently, federal law allows the ability for someone to legally use a private ID # for financial reporting purposes instead of a Social Security Number.
Title 5, Section 7 of Publication Law 93-579 of Government Organization and Employees Act:

(a) (1) It shall be unlawful for any Federal, State or Local Government Agency to deny any individual any right, benefit, or privilege provided by law because of such individual’s refusal to disclose his or hers Social Security Account Number.

To further understand the code:

Title 5 of the United States Code Annotated 552(a) knows as the Privacy Act, ruled in part:

“Right to privacy is a personal right designated to protect persons from the unwanted disclosure of personal information.” – CAN Financial Corp vs. Local 743, D.D., I11, 1981 15F. Sup. 943,I11.

(A)(1) “It shall be unlawful to deny any individual any right, benefit, or privilege provided by law because of such individuals’ refusal to disclose his or her social security account number”.

Pub. L 93-579: (B)

“Any Federal, State, or Local Government Agency which requests an individual to disclose their Social Security Account Number shall inform that individual whether the disclosure is mandatory or voluntary, by what statutory or other authority such number is solicited, and what uses will be made of it.”

The Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) prohibits creditors from denying you a loan based on reasons that have nothing to do with your credit-worthiness. What this means is Federal Law protects those who do not wish to disclose their personal information (SS#) except where required to do so. Disclosure of your social security number is only required when dealing with the IRS, your employer, applying for a federally insured mortgage or dealing with any one of a short list of authorized government agencies. Instead of a Social Security Number, you now have the opportunity to establish a Personal Credit Profile (PCP). VERY FEW PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS BECAUSE THE SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION AND THE CREDIT BUREAUS DON’T WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT IT.

Legality of your NEW Personal Credit Profile:

A Personal Credit Profile is a new 9 digit number established for financial reporting purposes. This number is NOT a new social security number. It is simply an available file number at the credit bureaus that can have financial information reported. You have the right to establish this number only once, so do not abuse it. The bureaus or the IRS can take part in this process to establish your PCP. YOU ARE LIABLE FOR PAYING BACK ANYTHING THAT IS BORROWED with this new PCP.
