| I was watching the World Series of Poker recently and the commentators made a comment about someone who was a mortgage broker...i forgot exactly how he put it, but along the lines of "there are more brokers here than poker pros!" Anyone here play a lot? Anyone playing the World Series this year? |

| went last year and played in the Omaha 8ob (203 out of 2k players) and also the 1500 no limit game (I lost- that's all). A kid I know from the south side of chicago (burbs) won the first event and a few others I know placed in the money at the championship (then one came back to chicago and got second in the heartland poker tour- like a 200k month for him!!!) |

| Lol sweet good luck man. I played the $1500 NL event two years ago and got knocked out in like two hours. Will try to satellite my way into the main event this year but not counting on it :( . It's funny cuz I think poker and mortgages are similar in that it was so easy a few years back, but now it's so hard to make money... |

I hope to be playing the 10k main event (working on qualifying on PokerStars). Other than that, nah, I won't be there, but I play a lot online.
I've noticed in the past years there were a lot of mortgage pros in events, seems like every feature table had one. |

| Mortgage Brokering and Poker playing tends to draw the same personality types. Brash, cocky and careless with money. |

don't forget the ability to read people carpet muncher. calling bluffs and pushing all in is very similar to figuring out in the first 30 seconds, "is this guy mine or is he going to shop" and pricing accordingly....

| 3yrs ago, I played for 6-8mths straight everyday and made it to 6th in a tournament that offered free entry to the WSOP...The tournaments to qualify take soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long and to lose without qualifying, I can't do it anymore... |

one of those full tilt freerolls?
No beyond that...Had to win one of those to get to the first satellite, then the next, rinse and repeat about 8 times and you get to the magic tourney...Even a lousy freeroll could take 6-8hrs, IIRC... |

| 5hrs sounds about right...I used to be in 2 or 3 at a time also, to increase my odds, spend all night, get nowhere and have to go to work LOL...My motto was, when I think I'm good enough to use my money, SHOOT ME!... |

| I did one on full tilt three years ago. It was a bunch of the player points that you earn and the top 2 seats went to the WSOP. Of course I came in 3rd when my QQ was beaten by 8 5. But stuff like that happens.... |
