I have been using a website live chat for a month or so, but found a better one yesterday that I thought would help many here...First, it's FREE!...
The thing I like the most is that as soon as someone even visits the site, I get an instant notice and I can shoot them a chat window letting them know I'm here to any any questions they may have or whatever...
http://www.chat4support.com/ <<<Go there, get free download and place the code on your site, whole process should take about 10 minutes...If that...I have it on all my sites now and my comp is making noise all day now!...Oh, very user friendly program too!...
We all know how much it ***** to have traffic that we only know about 'after' it was there, now we can catch them while they're there!...Woohoo!...Good luck!... |

There is another free one where the person has to put in their name and email address before the chat begins. Dont you think that would be better? |

no,, I'd rather be able to start the conversation, People are likely not to start a chat if they have to put in their email, name etc..

Right, I get a shot at traffic I may never otherwise be able to talk to...I hate seeing the page count go up and no contact...The second I see a hit, I say "hello, I'm here if you have any questions" That's it and so, far, so great!...
Another kewl feature is you can see how they go there(i.e. search engine and key words used, plus other items)...Here is screenshot: http://adjustableratemarketing.com/chat.jpg |

The features of Standard and Professional Editions will be disabled after 15-Day free trial period expires since sign-up.

So what, $40/mth?...You don't see the value there?...That's pennies...If you can't afford it(you should get out of the business) don't worry about all of the features, being able to catch someone looking at your site is worth mega-$$$$$$$$$....IMHO... |

I don't know who that was directed at. I was simply trying to clear up an error I found in this thread. Have a nice day. |

I HATE chats. I am such a horrible typer that I have a failure to communicate when I chat. My son was mocking me just yesterday as I helped him find some info on Google. :( |

Chat feature is great...we average anywhere from 3-10 per day, give any one shopping online the chance to speak with our reps without calling. Especially good for one or two quick questions.

| Any of them that let you initiate as soon as someone 'views', not requiring them to initiate the chat, free or whatever, get it!...Could really be worth a million bucks to your business!... |

| In a money-pinch, you can also just put the old "I'm Online" Yahoo Messenger button on your site. |

| Anybody. Looking for a low cost chat solution for my site. Need to be able to initiate contact with the customer. My web guy can throw some code on my site and get it going. Any of that open source fit the bill? |

| The chat has been responsible for the biggest spike in sales in a long time, being able to initiate the chat is now very big and proven to me... |

| i use this feature with my alamode site, excellent feature, allows me to take control of the site and direct them to a specific page when chatting or request contact info, only negative is that the web visitor has to accept my invitation before we can begin chatting. It would be nice to elliminate the need for the visitor to opt in to chat session and speak to the visitor as if they walked thru my front door of my office. |

I can maintain a one-sided conversation whether they participate or not...On occasion, as I see them hit certain pages, I throw a note at them... |

I haven't found a free one (yet) that allows you to initiate the chat. It's a valuable feature. The only reason I don't want to pay for this is because I prefer to go face-to-face as much as possible.
I met a couple at a restaurant today and answered their questions for 2.5 hours. Handed out 3 more cards to people nearby just listening in. Better than watching my PC screen yesterday. Plus, they paid. |
