Does anyone know what is understood under the term "mezzanine financing"? Logically, I would think it is financing subordinated below other financing. But, would that make sense in commercial financing? |

Bump!
Was this just a fantasy term invented by a client? |

Mezz piece financing is basically a 2nd mortgage lein, or in 2nd position behind a senior debt peice, somewhat like equity financing. Usually used in large construction projects needing high leverage, loans are usually 2mm min, 12% to 14% rates, 90% max.
