i had some see you next tuesday call me from wells to try to get me to work there yesterday. she calls me to offer me a job and was treating the call like she was colombo or something. then in the end she says "i can tell by your additude that youre not taking this seriously..." and i said, "you called me, i didnt ask for you to call.." she says "im giving you the keys to the best oppertunity in the mortgage biz and this is how you treat it." and then she hung up.

i got 4 unsolicated job offers from outpost readers in the last 48 hours. crazy ****. i wish borrowers would call me like that.

Comparing indymac to wells-from what I know indymac can't hold wells jock strap.

As far as the stagecoach comment-well you know where I can drive that...I don't see why you are poking fun at a young guy trying to get a head start with a solid company and not joe blow broker and I don't mean to be condescending, its just that people sometimes don't get it. I am in on long islnad ny and it is an extrememly competitive market. I think the brand wells fargo sticks out and will give me the upper hand. Best of luck to all that have given good serious advice

QUESTION: DOES THE MOVE FEEL RIGHT? Don't over analyze, but what does your gut tell you.

I was going to say once, but it's really more like twice I didn't trust my gut.

I was right both times.

OPINION: any port in a storm and health insurance as a bonus.

I thought the Stagecoach comment was hysterically genius...but thats just me.

No offense personally to all the people who 'got a job offer' from the likes of Wells or Indy Retail...thats like bragging about getting a shift leader job at Blockbuster

Point Blank Honest...If they offer you a nice signing bonus...$5,000+ per month for at least three months, and you like the manager (I knew of at least one good guy who managed a branch in your area) go for it. The reason I stress the signing bonus (or guaranteed draw) is that you will find the training (trips to Atlanta and Boston and perhaps LA) will take you away from your marketing strategy, hence, it's hard to get things going for a while. They stress purchases, particularly FHA.

Thank you for the approval rating on the Stagecoach comment , BTW I got a call from Wells today , recruiter for Emerging Markets Division , sounded interesting , I live and work in a very diverse community , may be an opportunity , going to meet with them tomorrow to see what its all about , too bad I never learned how to ride , would have loved to pull up on the parking lot on a black stallion LOL

Have I once boasted about being "offered" a position? I dont think so. We all know that just about anyone with a pulse can be hired by a "broker" and a "broker" seems to fit the blockbuster mold much better than Wells fargo.

Listen, I wasnt here to argue what job is better: being your own boss or working for a huge corporation. I was simply seeking advice from people that have much more industry experience and I thought that was the purpose of this forum.

Tell my friend who has a pretty serious position at wells and is probably clearing over 7 figures per year that wells is like being offered a position at blockbuster.

Dude, get off your high horse. It is very easy to stereotype both brokers and bankers, but at the end of the day it is about being able to sleep at night, provide for your family and if you can do that-amen brother. We all need to eat.

I am hundred percent committed to wells and i am excited about the opportunity---cant wait to get started.

At least with Indymac you can sell the fact that the borrower can pay their mortgage with their Amex and earn miles & Points doing so:
