All of us at one time in our careers, have purchased the "evil" internet lead. In doing research the last few weeks, I am pondering where they actually originate from?
Is the provider paying affiliates to drive traffic or leads for pennies on the dollar, and the reselling to us?
What is the Cost Per Lead for these guys?
At $20-$75 a lead, it seems someone is getting hosed. |

I had one of the first websites for loans back in 98. Online app using cgi script. All my traffic came from search engines.
I shut it down when people starting doing websites like Lending Tree and selling the leads for 4-6 people.
Most people at the time who came to my site bad very bad credit or shoppers. Did get some loans though. |

I talked to a lead provider the other day. he said all their leads are generated by ppc. That got me thinking...it they can do it, maybe I can learn how to as well.
If they are paying for enough clicks to generate 1 lead to sell at about $30, and they have the chance of not selling every lead they generate, my thought is that it can only be costing them around $5 per lead to generate.
If they are generating them for $5 then maybe I can for $10-$15...still cheaper and all mine.
shoot, even if it cost me $30 per lead, the lead is still mine and over time I will learn how to generate them cheaper. |
