So!! As some of you know, I am building a Purchase Division at my company. I'm finding out through the more people I meet, how key having a solid website is to both borrower's and Real Estate Professionals alike. Right now I have just a basic, free site that I have set up through ActiveRain. If I were to get something attractive, user friendly, and SHORT AND SWEET with a few necessary tabs and links, what would my ball park price range be?

Also, if you think a super sweet site is overrated and a waste of money, let me know your basis. You guys rock (most of you) and will have more of an idea of what I'm looking for than calling up random companies would, so your input is way appreciated. My company currently has its own website, but I want my own just like any Agent would working for Prudential, Coldwell Bingo, etc...

Thanks kids!!

Some stoner web guy? What does that mean? Are all net dudes pot heads, or was that a facetious comment? LOL

A loan officer site?

You can get a cookie-cutter site for less than $200 a year.

It's not the size of the site, it's how good you promote it.

How many pages do you want? Do you have your own graphics and text content ready? Do you have an outline of what you want?

Why do you want the site? What do you want from it?

I am a 24 year old social man wh*** with lots of friend, professional, family, school and sports organization connections in SD and OC that will see my website every chance I get.

I don't have a layout... but I can do that really quick. Let's see.. One main page with a single flash picture that pops up, basic text and 2-3 other jpeg images throughout the page, and a solid bar in the top header with tabs to other pages. There would be 4 or 5 different tabs, all being simple one page text/image type of layouts with no other accessible links.

Colors would be radiant and life like on a high resolution screen or monitor (I provide images) and no audio would be attached to any of the pages. More details to come I'm sure, this was random!!

I pay $185 a year for mine. Although I will probably cancel it.

Flash is obnoxious. You're so 24.

I don't do Flash animation (I'm Graphically-Challenged). Otherwise I'd have done it for 25 bucks a page for you... BO special.

Ask Darkstar if you need a reference for my work.

The key is making myself into a well known brand. I am already doing this in many other ways, the internet is just another attribute that I think could only help by providing a reference for someone when I am not there face to face

Maybe it is a stretched vision, but in the next 5 years, if you live in North San Diego County and are looking for a Residential Finance resource, Justin Alexander is the first name that comes to your mind. A guy like this MUST have a decent website... without it I would be like Batman with a table cloth for a cape! LOL

Think Word Press... forget the Flash crap.

Search engines love blog type sites... there
are about 17 bazillion free Word Press themes.
They're easy to work with.

You can get a free site at www.wordpress.com and
play around with themes and such until you get what
you want.

Whatever you do, don't underestimate the power of a web site in this business. Sometimes they don't make a difference (Think Domino's Pizza on the net. LOL), but in this type of business it's an absolute must to not have a cookie-cutter generic site that's dull as Hell. I can't begin to count how many mortgage sites I've seen that all have the same exact things on them.

You need to be unique in some way... any way. People make fun of the Ric Flair site on here, but I'll bet you the guy gets mega-leads from it.

IF you have a good idea about what you want do a search for "website templates" and take a quick look for ideas.

Also you can put up a job description at guru.com and have professionals bid on it.

i am a former software engineer.... degree and all....

the real professionals are not any more stoners than in any other line of work.... (drunks maybe, but not stoners - too many drug tests out there i guess).... :-)

what i think you are envisioning are the doofuses that play video games all day and think they can do that....

i know more stoner mortgage brokers than i did as in the software world.....

as far as cookie cutter software.... unless you want to look like everyone else's website (i.e. 'cookie cutter') i would strongly suggest not using these (i.e. alamode).... my site may not be flashy, but it gets my message out there and when i have time i can easily change it....

off of the soap box.....

have a nice day....

also to clarify, UC San Diego is primarily a commuter school and for serious students although Blacks is one of the great breaks in California. UC Santa Barbara would be a better analogy.

IT "Stoners"? That's a laugh. We wouldn't know a hit of good weed if it grew on our upper lip.

If you want to spot an IT guy, just look for a single man with yellow fingers. Coffee and cigarettes, coffee and cigarettes. No food is ever necessary and there is no time for a woman in your life.

Since you are a premium member why not use the premium side for what it was meant to be.....building your website.

I recently had to redesign my website after the web developer disappeared and my website crashed...

I am by no means programming inclined, and my website isn't perfect... Since it is only a few weeks since complete redevelopment where I lost almost all content. However I was able to do it for just the price of a few pictures and web hosting.

Its easily updated, I run a blog, I have lead generation tools that I made...

I use Joomla, and its easy enough for me to figure out.

www.arieslending.com

Just have to figure out how to make it more search engine friendly and not redirect to www.arieslending.com/joomla.

alamode.com about $600 per year. They'll make you a website, you can put daily rate sheets, lock advisory's, etc. You can get e-mail with that and they even have an online loan application that you can customize and keep your pipeline oganized in a window on your desktop.

I like what you did there. Admin allows you to make search engine friendly URLs. File directory change will take care of redirect.

I love joomla.
