I have heard they were sold off, but not sure to whom... Anyone know?

Hey, is this the same Kansas City bank that really made a push in late '06 for retail shops? I recall a company heavily tried to recruit me and was throwing around signing dollars. But I did not know them as FNMS - I think they were using F & M Mortgage in the DC area, but they were definitely a Kansas bank. After their recruiting burst, they disappeared. Same group, you think?

First National Mortgage Sources was a shell company of First National Bank of Kansas out of Hays, KS. They have a large retail presence in quite a few markets, but broker everything. They're based in KC even though the bank is nowhere near KC.

The same company that is federally chartered, and known for stealing the producing LO's (based on what I've read at MortgageMag forum)?

What is the verdict, is this a legit company, or fraud?

It was over a year ago, but when you said Hays, I am now sure that was it. My cousin lived in Hays for years before moving to Liberal. They brought in a team of recruiters....tied up a corner of a posh restaurant for a couple of weeks and tried to hire and staff offices around the beltway. I remember these recruiters (think they were really former loan officers) spoke about their boss w/ a reverence, almost befitting a cult. Hero-worship, if you will. I declined their offer and then never heard a peep about them from anyone. I wonder if they ever got the DC area off the ground - never heard anything more. Or maybe they caught the space ship to a better world..

Rob:

Joel closed his office on 6th St in Lawrence and evidently has sold the building, and the guys in OP (Kevin K and company) are now mortgage sources. I missed Bob B at his new office on Friday so I don't have the skinny, but it appears they have folded as most of the FNMS offices in town are operating under other net branch operators--if they are still open. The mega office in Topeka is virtually gone except for Mary, Tammy, & Dusty and they are operating under something else as well.

I had heard the auditors were pretty much camped out in Hays, and with the raising of the fees, it was only a matter of time......and evidently that is now.
