Not a big tech or gadget guy here, but I think I am ready to give one of these treo/blackberry type smart phones a shot. From what I hear, these things are pretty much a hand held computer and have tons of software available. Is Point available on one of these devices or no? If not, is this something that may be available in the near future?

I dont' think you can get point on a "smart phone", maybe a windows mobile 6 but I doubt it has the ability to run it.

You could get a ultra mobile pc and put it on there and then get a att wireless broadband or something like it.. not really a phone but would serve the purpose of mobile office and would be easier to use than trying to put a point file into a palm pilot with a stylus an easier to carry around than a laptop...

you can also get encompass anywhere which is a web based system.. not as good as point but it's pretty cool because you can use it from any computer that has access to the internet and don't need to install a program on anything.

That would be a nightmare if that was possible. There isn't type of any origination software available, and if it was it would be terrible to use with a phone. The smartphone isn't a replacment for a computer.

Laptop is the only answer if you gotta be portable. Dell refurbs are a good deal.

I agree 100% with the dell refurb laptop idea. I have bought 5 now and never a problem. They have them for under $500 all the time.

5 of 'em too. You can't tell the difference between a refurb and a new one- same warranty as new. I honestly think they just label them refurbished just to have a reason to discount them.

You just don't get a tracking # on the Dell website with your order, thats all. They always arrive in days, not weeks as quoted.

POINT *****. Every version has issues, whether it's calculating P+I, or copying borrower data from one file to the next, there's always an issue.

It's just popular since it's cheap.
